Always in my road warrior mode to see this off the beaten path jewel, I like to show you a bit of this nice chapel in a wooded area and country roads ! Therefore, let me tell you about this is Prat !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The village of Prat is formed by several smaller hamlets and located 54 km from Saint Brieuc, 16 km from Lannion, 24 km from Guingamp, 56 km from Morlaix, and 127 km from my current home from where we came, along the D102 road dir Languidic, but by Malachappe village of Pluvigner bear right onto the D24 road dir Lambal Baud continue to Baud where passing by City center it becomes the D724 road or Rue de Pontivy becoming the D768 road dir Pontivy but exit on the D764 road dir Mur de Bretagne, bear right onto the D767 road dir Guerlédan continue just before Guingamp get on the N12 highway to reconnect with the D767 road dir Bégard and continue dir Prat and get on the exit/sortie D33 road to Prat then bear right onto the D93 road that takes you to the village ,however, past the village on same D93 road ,then bear left on the D21 road dir the Chapelle Saint Jean,
The Chapelle Saint-Jean or Saint John’s Chapel is located in the hamlet of Trévoazan, 2.5 km from the village of Prat. The western facade indicates a construction in the second half of the 16C. ; reconstruction of the nave and side aisles in the 17C. The Chapelle Saint Jean is in the shape of a Latin cross, the nave was enlarged in the 17C with a three-bay aisle. The choir and the west gable, in large stonework, date from between 1497 and 1500., The north wing seems to date from the 13C. The ossuary and the altar are from the 16C. The bell tower was repaired in 1686. The chapel houses a statue of Notre Dame (Our Lady). Nothing remains of the rich furnishings indicated by the accounts which mention among other things the image of Saint Yves made in 1681, a banner bought from Jehan Landais embroiderer in Lannion in 1688, nor the altarpiece of the high altar commissioned on April 12, 1726.

The chapel collapsed in 1910. At that time, only the western facade and its bell tower remained, as well as some sections of side walls and the gable window of the apse. The Chapelle Saint Jean was originally built in the 13C by the Knights Templar of the Palascret Commandery in Saint-Laurent. When the Order of the Temple was suppressed by Pope Clement V in 1312, the chapel was attached to the possessions of the Hospitallers of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem and was placed under the protection of Saint John the Baptist, although it was originally dedicated to Notre Dame. During this period, the chapel had a window with the coat of arms of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. It is now owned by the village. It remained served by th vicar of Prat until the French revolution by 1791.

Other things to see here are the Saint-Pierre Church built in the 17C. Sainte Anne de Prat Chapel. The castle of Coatezlan 16C, built by the Le Chevoir family. Almost completely restored, it was partly destroyed by fire in 1989, It has retained defensive elements like a turret, and an ogee-shaped door,
A bit of history I like tell us that the name of Prat comes from the Breton “prad” or meadow. Prat is a subdivision of the former primitive parish of Cavan. There were two truces in this parish: Trévoazan and Fougeraye-Rouge. Trévoazan, cited as such since 1444. This truce of Prat had a church since 1429. In addition to the Cistercians, the Templars and the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem also had property in Trévoazan. The place was under the command of the Palacret commandery, in Saint-Laurent. The former parish of Prat had Tréguier as its bishopric, its subdelegation, and Lannion as its jurisdiction. The parish was in the ordinary parish. During the French revolution, the parish of Prat was under the deanery of La Roche-Derrien.
