I was staying at the Hôtel George V. This adventure lasted 8 months! At the end I was thinking of staying permanently.  I would have been able to purchase a small apartment on the attic types, and lived at the heart of Paris city of Lights. I was young, single, and love this city. I spent my times on the Champs-Élysées, to read wholly the books at  library Shakespeare & Company,or just walked in the streets of the  Quartier latin. However, all my friends were at  New York. Alors, and I stop thinking about this dream. I regret a bit today having done that decision”.

We love the Chez Clement restos and the one in Bougival in my department Yvelines no 78 is historical. You have four rooms with exquisite decorations such as véranda Saint Michel, color glass mirrors of Champs-Elysées, Rotonde de Petit Clamart, or flower garden of Bougival. This restaurant was founder by Clement Blanc , the same who started in the butchery business founded in Paris the popular Au Pied de Cochon near Les Halles.  The restaurant at Bougival is enclosed by 2 hectares of gardens (5 acres), and the original here was the local famouse Coq Hardi. The location is at  15 bis, quai Rennequin Sualem, 78380 Bougival,

Some news from France XLVIII May 21, 2011

The sad news is that I am leaving the Versailles by June 1st, 2011. The good news is that I am leaving for a better management position with a highly recognise French company in the region of Morbihan, Bretagne. Its a decision that weighted heavily on the fact of not only  the pay, but the conditions, and the area. It is after all a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Gulf of Morbihan (small sea in Breton language). My family will stay behind some time in order to get all the paperwork of selling the house, finding schools for the sons, and the usual moving madness that we are so used to having moved several times in our life from regions to regions and from countries to countries. The Versailles area is wonderful, will leave many friends but will stay in touch, the area is superb cant have enough words for it. The palace driving by it every day to work is sublime, the food, the people ,and the closeness to the city, Paris, a movable feast was awesome. As all my previous residences, it will be remembered fondly and with great joy of having lived in a wonderful area. I have our family lunch at Bougival near us at chez Clément restaurant. Monday take my father to buy his misc at Mantes la Jolie in the morning and go to Paris by 6éme for dinner with local friends. Tuesday is to close deal on my new apartment, and wednesday take wife for appointments, then thursday pickup my new business suits that should be done in west of Paris quai des Marques an outlet store with brand names very nice and good prices; then next weekend will be my last officially in the area so planning already some outings with the family, probably a walk in the Château de Versailles gardens we enjoy so much over the 9+ years we lived here.

Bretagne is in French but in Breton is BreizhMorbihan is in French but in Breton is Mor Bihan. Vannes is French, Breton is Gwened. and then some polite words ,first in French then in Breton ,and finally in English, Bonjour, Demat, good morning, Bon aprés midi, Demat deoc’h, good afternoon, Bonsoir, Nozvezh vat, gooe evening, Au revoir, Kenavo, goodbye, s’il vous plait, mar plij, please, oui, ya, yes, non, ket, no, The wonderful Crêpe is Krampouezh, the Galettes are Galetez, Bon appetit you can say Kalon digor, unique.

Some news from France XLVIIII May 25, 2011

I made another trip to Bretagne, and this time got my apartment nice property of four bedrooms, two baths, one car garage overlooking the main road of town and only 30 minutes by car from my new place of work. I do it all the time many like it in the past few years, this time hope I can stay a bit longer ::) I will be in a village the whole metropolis has about 6K folks but divided into several comunes, along a country road, link to the main expressway linking Brest to Nantes, N165. The town main webpage is this one, oh its call Brech in French or Brec’h in Breton

Tomorrow  I will pickup my suits that I had purchased, and then do some last minute shopping in the area , Friday evening will be viewing Paris, Champs-Elysées with some old business folks and then later by Châtelet for a round of beer with friends, going away from the big city. Not for long, as I said to many, Paris will always remains in you no matter how far you will be from it, once biten , the love is eternal. I will be baaaack !!! If you are around Paris see me at Au Trappiste,4 rue St Denis by metro Châtelet Friday evening.  I will be leaving for Brech May 31st, and the beginning of a new adventure in my life. Stick around and see it with me as we walk, ride, and cheer the lovely Bretagne region.

Some news from France L May 28, 2011

I am here just getting ready to pack my things for my moved to Brech, near Auray, near Vannes, department of Morbihan in Brittany, France. My next home for me and soon for the rest of the family. The schools transfers have been asked so paperwork heavens we are in. I was just exchanging with some friends in Paris by Châtelet yesterday, and told them it will be my record intact of a new home every 5,5 years since my birth. Amazing isn’t it? Well goes to show you ,I am a globetrotter for real! The Châtelet area of Paris was loud ,noisy and full of folks, there were a congregation playing drums by the Place Victoire, and we had some nice beers in Au Trappiste, 4 rue St Denis, my all time best place in Paris for a happy hour. It will be missed but I am sure with my luggage new ones will be found ,and the rich history of pedmar10 will continue to grow. Had encounters with many friends over the last few days, saying until next time, never goodbye as I only will be 5 hrs by car and 3h52 by train ride away ,but the wisdom of  the internet will keep us close, and we will meet again one day by Paris or in my area. I have only but great reviews of my new area, it seems every French person I spoked to love it.

In other country, area matters ,the Institute Great Place to Work (GPTW) came up with the best companies to work in Europe, and you guess it Microsoft came out on top. The next 2’4 places were by Amgen,Mars,Cisco Systems, 3M,NetApp, MacDonalds, SAS institute, WL Gore, Kelloggs, Diageo, Hilt, Pepsico, Accenture, Fedex,Novo Nordisk,Télefonica, Medtronics,Baxters, SC Johnson, Novartis,Abbott,Quintiles, Mundipharma, and Danone.

Tomorrow Sunday is Mother’s Day in France, this year it falls on May 29th. If not at home like us, as we use the day for packing, you can go to the great Pinacothéque de Paris and see the exposition by Hugo Pratts  where you will see more than 150 aquarelles many not known to the general public and historic plaques including about 164 of the mythic “Ballade de la mer salée”. There until August 21st

And lastly but not least, the Paris Air Show is coming to town!!!  Love Aviation so this is big for me. My US University ERAU will be in town, and in addition to the festivities of June 22nd, we the alumni will be having a dinner at the prestigious and oldest aviation club in France, The Aero Club de France, 6 rue Galilée, Paris 75016. near the Arc de Triomphe. You will see me there ::)

There you go folks, a big task but a work of love to keep the best, me think of these wonderful older posts over the years, These are what I think worth keeping of my older Some news from France series, and I thank you, Again, hope you enjoy this post as I

  1. Just wondering if you can offer suggestions. I’m covering Paris 2024 and am trying to find an Airbnb in walking distance of the media entrance for the Games. Do you know what the names of the streets are around that area so I can try to search by using those names.

Hi, the Media village will be located in Dugny, this is Seine Saint Denis dept 93 not the kind of area you will like to stay is north of Paris it will be close to the village of athletes, the Stade de France, the Aquatic Center, Arena Paris Nord , the Bourget climbing site, and by public transport to Paris in these times will be chaotic already is with the games even more. It is also near the museum Le Bourget air and space. Public transport will be at about an hour from the Champs-Elysées in Paris. airbnd are huge in number so you if staying near check around this town I would imagine the Games will provide some transportation help. Best of luck.
