Again, back in my road warrior days and coming to visit and new and repeated places of my beautiful Morbihan. I came again to a town we have visited and passed by regularly, this is Locminé right off the road N24 but also direct with my town on the D16. We came again to the nice Church Saint Sauveur and Saint Colomband of Locminé.
My new visit will cut short the history part as have another post on it in my blog. This time thus, took more and better pictures me think. Therefore, here is my better second look at the Church Saint Sauveur and Saint Colomband of Locmné! The marker above on the left is the route of liberty and rememberence of the USA effort in the world wars.
The Church of Saint-Sauveur and Saint-Colomban initially from the 16C was a compromise between the ancient granite facades and the modern church of concrete, carpentry and slate. The facades are that of the old Chapel of Saint-Colomban, from the end of the 15C, to the left and that of the old church, on the right; the City Council had decided, in 1972, to demolish the church which had become obsolete, nowwith only the two portals of the west façade. In the old church there was a stained glass window of Saint-Colomban integrated into the new construction: the panels of this stained glass were reassembled in a vertical strip behind the altar.
The reason of the two names is that the old church was called Saint Colomban and the the city council decided to name the new one Saint Sauveur , and as it is often the case the compromise was to name it as both. Voilà.

As a novelty, just in front of the church you see some picturesques houses! they are cob and half-timbered houses on the Place du Rond-Point de la République. They date from the 15-16C. On one of them, two sculpted characters symbolize, it is said, Locminé and his wife..
There you go folks, there again is Locminé. This is a nice chapel right in city center and better the second time me think. Hope you enjoy this post on the Church Saint Sauveur and Saint Colomband as I.
And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!!
