Curiosities of Ploumanac’h !!!

This was trips with the family a couple times.  So back at you from my north  Brittany  heaven ; indeed all seems beautiful around me, and I notice feel lucky to be here. Again I have to thanks for my dear late wife Martine for showing me her country since 1989 and to be part of it since 2000, and living in it since 2003 !!!  The memories are always grand the area is worth the trip. The town of Ploumanac’h  is in the Côtes d’Armor dept 22 of my lovely Bretagne, and in my belle France. Therefore, let me tell you about curiosities of Ploumanac’h !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I

The first Ploumanac’h lighthouse or Mean Ruz lighthouse dates back to 1860. Destroyed in 1944, it was replaced by the current lighthouse in 1945. It marks the entrance to the channel leading to the port of Ploumanac’h. At night, it is identifiable by its red occulting light with a white sector, the latter color being visible only between Tomé Island and Rouzic Island. From the lighthouse, there is a direct view of Costaérès Castle, Renote Island, and the Sept-Îles archipelago.

The moulin de la lande du Crac’h or Crac’h heath mill is located in La Clarté – Ploumanac’h, administravely in Perros Guirec , but I place it in the La Clarte quartier neighborhood closer to Ploumanac’h. Signposts are in place from the D788. A parking area is available on site. The two ground-floor entrances face north and south. The first floor, housing the millstones, has several rather modest openings, with corbelled supports. The attic has a dormer window to accommodate the oak drive shaft and an opening for the ash brake lever. The sails have a 16-meter span and are set 70 cm above the ground to allow space for an animal. The frame of the windmill is mobile, powered by a drive wheel. The windmill on the Crac’h heath may have been built in 1727 according to the date inscribed on a lintel; however, it could be earlier.
