The réservoir de Montsouris of Paris !!

We have driven and walked in my eternal Paris, and would like to have an imprint in my blog on the wonderful family times we had there, There is so much to see , doing my best, and glad found me this older paper picture ,which now transposing in my blog for you and me, This was my former worked city, so glad to post more memorable spots on it, I thank you for your readership over the years since 2010, and to bear with my rants! After all Paris is to rant, shout and yelled about, me think. Therefore, here is my take on the réservoir de Montsouris of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The réservoir de Montsouris was completed in 1874 under the name “Réservoir de la Vanne”, later renamed “Réservoir de Montrouge” , is one of the five main water reservoirs in the city of Paris. The structure, located in the 14éme arrondissement, supplies water to the entire southern part of the city. The Montsouris reservoir is located on one of the high points in the south of Paris, near the Parc Montsouris. The reservoir is located within a quadrilateral formed by Avenue Reille , Rue de la Tombe-Issoire, and Rue Saint-Yves. It is located in the quartier or neighborhood of the Parc-de-Montsouris which seems to give its name, The Montsouris Reservoir was built between 1869 and 1874; work was delayed by the Franco-Prussian War and the unrest of the Commune. 

Built on old quarries, the reservoir is made up of two superimposed reservoirs. The reservoirs are covered by a brick vault covered with 35 cm of earth providing good thermal insulation. They are each supported by 1,800 masonry pillars to support their weight and contain 300,000 m3 of water, and five reinforced fountain bells. It is in fact spring water, which ripples over 235 meters long and 135 wide, between walls 2 meters thick. It is an ultra-protected and secure strategic site, but is open to the public once a year, on European Heritage Days. Little curious people like me, will be able to enter the pavilion of the Porte d’Arcueil, which overlooks the reservoir, and take my picture,,,,

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
