The Cuatro Torres old Ciudad Deportiva of the Real Madrid CF !!!

I lived in Madrid for four years between 1970 to 1974, and played for the Real Madrid in baseball, volleyball ,and football/soccer in the alavin/benjamin divisions. Once a Madridista, always a Madridista to the grave. Hala Madrid !!! I have written plenty in my blog , but so happy to have found this picture in my cd rom vault that allow me to show in my blog for you and me for the memories of always, Therefore, here is my take on the Cuatro Torres old Ciudad Deportiva of the Real Madrid CF !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

The Cuatro Torres Business Area (CTBA) is a business park located next to Paseo de la Castellana, bordering north Calle Arzobispo Morcillo and on the south Avenida de Monforte de Lemos in the La Paz district of Madrid. It was built on the site of the former Real Madrid Sports City (Ciudad Deportiva) . Initially known as Madrid Arena, the consortium of owners of the four towers decided to adopt a new corporate image for the complex and changed the name to Cuatro Torres Business Area. Although the name refers to four buildings, it can also be called Cinco Torres (Five Towers) today, as a fifth tower, Caleido, 181 meters tall, was later built in the same area and inaugurated in 2021.

The original business park consists of four skyscrapers that are the tallest buildings in Madrid and Spain. The four buildings are Torre Moeve (formerly known as Torre Bankia and Torre Repsol), Torre PwC, Torre de Cristal, and Torre Emperador Castellana. Torre de Cristal is the tallest in Madrid and Spain, standing at 249 meters. Construction of these four buildings began in 2004. The Emperor Tower (then called Space Tower) was completed in late 2007, the Crystal Tower in early 2008, the Cepsa Tower in mid-2008, and the PwC Tower in late 2009. All house offices, although the PwC Tower also houses a hotel, and the Crystal Tower features a garden at its summit. You reach here on metro Begoña line 10 also bus lines 67, 124, 134, 135, 151, and 179 stop/parada Castellana-Cuatro Torres, Metro Plaza de Castilla on lines 1,9, and 10, The picture was taken from the Plaza de Castilla, However, since the buildings were built only passed by here on Paseo de la Castellana by car just for the memories forever,

The land where the four CTBA towers now stand was formerly home to the Real Madrid football club’s training complex, built in 1963. My happy post is that with the picture brought back many memories as when a child played here for the Real Madrid CF alvin and benjamin divisions !! In 2001, Real Madrid sold the rights to operate one and a half of the four towers on the site. The Community of Madrid operated another one and a half towers, and the city council operated the fourth. Following the agreement, Real Madrid relocated its training complex to the Valdebebas area, where it has been located since its construction and inauguration in 2005.
