And coming back to my old stumping road warrior area ,and catching up on my many photos ,most in my cd rom vault to bring you new areas and ideas to visit my belle France, here is a new one. Therefore, let me tell you a bit about this is Rennemoulin !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The village of Rennemoulin is located in the Yvelines department no, 78 in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. It is 12 km from Versailles, 11 km from Saint Germain en Laye, 77 km from Chartres and 452 km from my current home. The neighboring towns are Noisy-le-Roi ,Fontenay-le-Fleury, and Villepreux (all with posts). It is served by the D 161 road which connects it to Noisy-le-Roi to the north and Villepreux to the west. With its approximately 150 inhabitants, it is one of the smallest villages in the Yvelines,
The Chapelle Saint-Nicolas priory was built in 1202 and built on the banks of the ru de Gally stream in Rennemoulin. The chapel has been disused since 1793 during the French revolution and converted into a barn within the estate. The estate of the Saint-Nicolas priory was acquired by the Pasteur Institute in 1919 to accommodate animals intended for medical research. It was renovated with the help of the Fondation du Patrimoine and the patronage of the Pasteur Institute and other companies, as well as grants from the Department and the inter-municipal authority.

After a Mass in the spring of 2017, the chapel, bought by the village, was transformed into a multi-purpose space intended to host worship services, seminars, concerts and weddings. You walk by it as in the picture in front of the Lavoir Saint-Nicolas washhouse 13C It houses an oratory dedicated to Saint-Nicolas, patron saint of Rennemoulin until the French revolution. This town was included in the 18C in the large park of Versailles.

Also, see the Fort Loupé, built in 1914, is an underground bunker located in an open field.
A bit of history tell us the village was established in the 13C around the mill and the Saint-Nicolas priory, of which only the chapel remains. Rennemoulin was incorporated into the great park of Versailles in the 18C. The existence of the village is attested in the archives by the founding in 1202 of a priory along the river, near a mill. It was here that two brothers, Jean Paalé, Lord of Rennemoulin, and Guillaume Escuasol, Provost of Paris in 1195 and later Bailiff of Rouen, built a chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas, which was ministered to by a Trinitarian monk, an order created in 1193 for the ransom of Christian prisoners during the Crusades. In the same year, they opened a Trinity Hospital at the gates of Paris to welcome pilgrims, the administration of which they entrusted to the Premonstratensians of the Abbey of Hermières in Brie, who would also manage the priory of Rennemoulin. The chapel, which had become a parish church since the 16C, was the subject of regular donations and maintenance, and the names of all its priests were preserved until the French revolution. The parish was abolished and attached to Villepreux in 1804, then to Noisy-le-Roi in 1901, and the chapel was therefore condemned to the fate of a barn, or even ruin… if the current village of Rennemoulin had not saved it! From the second half of the 17C, the village was integrated into the Grand Parc desired by Louis XIV to raise game for his hunts, with a pheasantry along the Ru des Gally, game reserves, and strict crop regulations. With the French revolution came a new era that intended to return the royal lands to those who worked them, but as everywhere else, the promise was cut short and the lands returned to the new owners. Alongside modest farms, large estates were built that were passed down through dynasties of owners: the Demarines, Baron d’Osmond, the Lefebvre-Morainvillés, the Manuels, who had the means to equip themselves with innovative equipment and numerous staff. This is how the population of Rennemoulin increased with the arrival of several families of agricultural workers from Belgium.
