The beaches at Cancale !!

This is a nice quant town that was later in visited but very much coming back, all worth it. I am working on it. We reach Cancale, another beauty of the Ille et Vilaine department,35 in my lovely Bretagne, in my belle France. The beach here is not as well known but nice to be there,  Therefore, let me tell you a bit on the beaches at Cancale !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Houle district is located at the entrance to Cancale. It is quite traditional because it is mainly fishermen’s houses dating from the 18C and 19C that are found there, below the cliff. The district is also marked by the small niches installed in the streets, in homage to the Virgin Mary. The first would have appeared following the cholera epidemic which ravaged Cancale in the 1850s.The port, called Port de la Houle. The comings and goings of the dumpers loaded with oysters, the merchants, the return of the fishing boats at high tide is a sublime sight to watch. And of course, the beach is right there,

The plage de la Houle (swells) beach is located at the wearing of the same name, along the quays. It is the most central beach in Cancale, but not the most frequented. The reason is that at low sea tide can be removed far away, while at high tide the beach is almost systematically flooded. Therefore we come there mainly to stroll along the fitted promenade. Swimming is prohibited. Also, prohibited to animals from April 1 to September 30.

The beach of the small port of Cancale  is not necessarily the best if you want to tan, but it’s still very nice to be able to rest for a few moments. In addition, the different oyster parks clutter this magnificent bay. We come mainly to walk around with a very well maintained seafront with old fishermen’s houses , and many restaurants (see post) where you can taste the world famous cancalaises flat oysters. And, it has some games in summer for children on the sand.

The plage du Verger or Orchard beach is indeed a beautiful fine sandy beach of 2 km long, sheltered from westerly winds by two rocky headlands, is very popular with swimmers. It’s the first beach you’ll come to after leaving Pointe du Grouin. North of the town of Cancale, To get to this beach from Cancale take the road by the sea , the D201 towards Saint Malo, then follow the signs to the beach as well as the chapel above. There is a large parking at the beach with a small snack in summer. The Verger beach lives up to its name: half of the beach is “reserved” for people completely naked, like Adam and Eve enjoying apples in the Garden of Eden, at the beginning of the world. Also, dogs are accepted except from April to September,

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
