Curiosities of Vannes, part XXIX !!!

As said, we come by here always, we eat here , enjoy it here ,ride boats here, and do shopping galore on many items yet I need to tell you more, with new pictures from my latest round in town always here but sometimes need to tell you more for you and me, I will tell you a bit more on favorites spots in my capital City of Vannes, in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56, in my lovely Bretagne,  and in my belle France. Therefore, here again the curiosities of Vannes , part XXIX !!! Hope you enjoy it as I

While there we stop by at our favorite wine store in France, Nicolas right in the middle of the market in place du poids public. And again we were greeted nicely and long conversation with the store manager that we have known for years, We loaded the white and rosés wines this time ,Nicolas is tops, recommended for all your wine needs in France,

Indigo manage the above and underground parking at 25 place de la République running along rue Thiers. It is one of the largest public squares in Vannes; crossed by rue Thiers, which leads from the city/town hall. Next to it is the main la Poste or post office, Across you walk into the old town and the market areas.

The Place de la Liberation square forms a quadrilateral halfway between the historic center and the Madeleine district of Vannes. This is a major transports hub and parking we used many times and again today, It is about 650 meters from the market area.

At 31 rue Thiers, see the wonderful Hôtel de Limur (see post). The construction of the Hôtel des Douves , former name of the Hôtel de Limur, probably begins around 1685. By 1748, begins the long and chaotic destiny of the Hôtel de Limur. It was acquired by the City in 1947, ceded to the State in 1980 and recovered by the City in 1991. It retains the name of the Limur family who owned it from 1820 to 1947. There is now the Centre d’interprétation de l’architecture et du patrimoine (CIAP), or the Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Center, named Limur, opened its doors within the Hôtel de Limur in May 2022. intended to raise awareness and educate all audiences about the architecture and heritage of the Vannes conurbation. composed of several fun and interactive exhibition rooms. You will find 5 exhibition rooms and an educational room dedicated to activities for children such as “little discoverers”. In the first rooms of the CIAP you can contemplate the temporary exhibition of urban projects of Golfe du Morbihan Vannes Agglomération but also retrace the urban expansion, since 1945. Upstairs, you will find the permanent exhibitions “The Rise of the City, from its birth to 1532”, “Between prosperity and decline, from 1532 to 1860”, “The metamorphoses of a city, from 1860 to 1945” and “A population full of contrasts”.
