The Halle aux Poissons of Vannes !!!

And here I am again telling you about my wonderful beautiful capital city of Vannes in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France! This is an underrated city that must be visit more and I know we have plenty to see here but you come and will be hook by it, I took new pictures for my blog for you and me. Therefore, I will tell you more on the Halle aux Poissons of Vannes !!! Hope you enjoy it as I

 In the Place de la Poissonnerie you have the Halle aux Poissons or fish market ,a wonderful place of fish ,seafood and all related to the mighty wonderful sea, The Halle aux Poissons will delight all the freaks of crustaceans, oysters, fish and even smoked salmon stand. This market is held all year round on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 8h to 13h. About twenty permanent traders in all. It is a wonderful building which we enjoy tremendously and shop profusionnally!  As today got our lemon sole for Sunday !

Further to the port the Halle aux Poissons or fish market will delight all the freaks of crustaceans, oysters, fish and even smoked salmon stand. This market is held all year round on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 8h to 13h. Located in the place de la Poissonnerie. About twenty permanent traders in all. It is a wonderful building which we enjoy tremendously and shop profusionnally!  In 1821, a first fish market,  back of the buildings on Rue Saint-Vincent, was built on the place de la Poissonnerie, a place for fish markets since the end of the middle ages. The Gulf fishermen wishing for a larger and more hygienic building, a new Hall is made in 1880 of 35 meters in length and 13 meters in width, it is built in granite. Inside, 18 cast iron poles, some of which are adorned with scallops, support a metal frame.

We come as usual to do our fish buys fresh from the Gulf of Morbihan and out into the outer islands of the Atlantic Ocean all part of the dept 56 Morbihan (in Breton means petite mer in French or small sea in English), We purchase a piece of blue lobster and filets of bar or sea bass, Looking forward to cooking it in the weekend !!!

We took a peek today as our alternative when the halle aux poissons is not open, this is the Chez Michel-Pierre poissonnerie  or fish market, at 2 Place du Poids Public in old town Vannes. A busy place, probably because this family business, which has been open to the street for nearly 50 years, like a market, makes it a more natural choice. All coastal seafood comes directly from Lorient, Quiberon, Le Croisic, and the Gulf of Morbihan. Here, the focus is on freshness, with excellent value for money. and the fish can be prepared to the customer’s request. A worthy stop indeed.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
