So let me bring out again to the Presqu’île de Conleau, another peninsula near me. This is more urban but a nice harbor ,pool and walks for our dog and is in Vannes! Conleau is one of the neighborhoods of the city of Vannes. The area was created during the 20C from two former hamlets named the Petit Conleau and the Grand Conleau, each composed of a manor house and farmhouses. The Conleau peninsula is an ideal spot for families,barbecue, and just soak in the tranquil life away from the city and crowds. The Conleau peninsula is a former island of the Gulf of Morbihan, connected to the mainland by a dike road from 1878. Of modest dimensions at about 500 meters in length for an average width of 100 meters. It lies at the confluence of the rivers Vincin and Marle, the two main streams of Vannes.
It is located at the end around its curve of the Gulf of Morbihan; it is a district of the city also call by the same name. Nowdays you find old mansions houses, where the architecture its inspired of Swiss chalets. There is an open pool into the bay of sea water classify pavillon bleu or excellent for swimming. There is a good size children playground where local families bring their little ones for pass time and play, all bordering the gulf and its Vincin river. Large trees of shade and benches all over provides a nice rest area for a picnic or rest or just look at the sailboats in the inner safe marina and harbor!
There are buses from Vannes that get you here but , I do the run always by car and its easy along the N165 to exit 779E follow signs for Le Port and on the last roundpoint, get right following Conleau sign, 20 mins and you are there off the freeway. Plenty of parking by the entrance to the Best Western hotel or at the entrance to the islet along the Vincin river and bay road. Of course, there is picturesque Vélocéo bike station for rides around the peninsula if you wish.
In 1878 the résidents decided to give a different look at the area so they created a seawater pool surrounded by changing cabins,showers , chalets , a restaurant, and a hotel all around it.
There is a nice pines forest of Conleau. all along the shores of the Gulf of Morbihan and the banks of the Vincin river, this pinewood, composed of sea pines and secular oaks, gives this site a maritime atmosphere that offers shade and freshness to the many visitors. There is a children’s playground. There is great views of the bay walking on a trail just from the open sea pool all around the building and housing complex, just great walks along the sea sublime!! You have great views over the channel that takes you out to sea and nice boats, And my dog Rex loves to walk around here a lot ! The Port of Conleau channel has 2 thresholds that you will not be able to cross by large tides, even medium, with a watering of 1m60. If you are wet after these thresholds, you have more current …For info as never in a boat by here, The views are fabolous !
There is a nice harbor office and public bathrooms right across the resto above and open sea pool. There are better bathroom by the sailing club after the Roof resto along the bay area. If you need your boat fix, there is a shipyard too! There is what it looks like a wonderful camping 4 stars in Conleau, again, we have not been living so close, but do frequent camping ,and this one looks very good.
Conleau comprises a built-up area, consisting of detached houses and some collective dwellings, as well as an unbuilt area, the
pointe des Émigrés (emigrants point) and the Parc du Golfe (Gulf park), really at the entrance but not in the peninsula per se me think. The peninsula is separated from the town of Arradon by the Vincin river and the town of Séné by the Marle river. As early as 1879, a dike-road connects the island to the mainland , promoting the development of the small seaside resort.
