In my new life as retiree my blog is my biggest entertainement and before anything else, I like to thank everyone of my readers and followers to stay with me over the years since November 26 2010 !!! Thank you !!! The Pont-Aven Museum just reopened its doors. Completely renovated, it has doubled its exhibition area to highlight the paintings of the famous school of Pont-Aven, which is illustrated in the wake of Paul Gauguin. Some news from France, XCXXXIIII May 31, 2016

Many technological advances to ease the passing thru the airports of Paris. On CDG Terminal F there are machines to help you check in your luggage automatically, the carpet will be extended to pass quicker thru x ray machines ,all the controls for European departures will be concentrated in two wings of Terminal F, and already testing by AF and Paris airport an automatic boarding system.

And remember, coming up in France, the Euro16 European football/soccer championship starting June 10th France vs Romania And the 24 hrs of Le Mans auto race with the return of FORD to France, June 18-19 And from July 2nd to the 24th , the one and only Tour de France.

Bordeaux is having its 10th Fête du Vin (Wine Festival) from June 23 to 26, 2016 with passes to the vinyards and tastings all over, a great event I participated in 2012 and was wonderful. Also, the Cité du Vin is open ,for all the world of wine , the winelovers in us will be in heaven, I will be there later on in the year. And one organisation to promote and teach about French wines and spirits is SOPEXA, the one I study to get my diploma on the wines of France many many years ago, expert won’t say but knowledable on them ,yes

And do you know the routes of Picasso in France? We start in Marseille where the Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe & de la Mediterranée is doing an exhibition on Picasso until August 29th In Aix-en-Provence, where he coined, ” i am a Grandson of Cézanne” , and spent many moments in the resto brasserie Les Deux Garçons , as well as seeing the great Festival Of Aix on Lyrics Arts At Arles, Picasso arrived in 1920. The most hispanic of the French cities!  Here created the figure of la Arlesiana (the arlesien),main figure in its paintings that can be admired at the Museum Réattu at the banks of the river Rhône. He continue to the Baux-de-Provence, Where he participated in the film The Testament of Orpheus(1960) ,with his friend Jean Cocteau. In the film ,also, appeared Marlène Dietrich, Brigitte Bardot ,and Françoise Sagan. It was filmed at the foot of the Les Baux,in the Val d’Enfer (valley of hell). Today, this site holds the Carriéres des Lumiéres ,And you go to Avignon with him; In the Palais des Papes ,he had two expos in 1970 and 1973 , six weeks after his death. The works are now preserve in the Museum Angladon in the collection of Jean Doucet In Sorguez, he went to stay away from the world, more seclusion. Here he painted several portraits on women and gave light to the Cubism movement like  Guitar , Bottle of Pernod and Cup. We move on to Vallauris, he came since 1948. After the WWII, the discovered Ceramics here in the shop of the couple Ramié and took off on a production of more than 1000 pièces in the year. From  the Château de Vauvenargues you can see the wonderful mountain of Sainte-Victoire. Picasso fell in love with these views and came to lived in the castle buying it in 1958, surrounded by round towers and surrounded by fortifications. It was his last stop.  Today ,his tomb is here together with his wife  Jacqueline, in the garden Under one of the copies of his work ,the La dama oferente (Woman with Vase).

The maison Giguel has just added this old Tavern, frequented by Impressionists painters at the end of the 19C, to the list of remarkable monuments of the city. Rueil-Malmaison Despite appearances, the imperial theatre of Compiègne prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary in October. The event ,the. Les Nuits de Fourvière 2016 in Lyon will be theme around the Circus.The show star will be Triptyque until July 31 Until September 18 2016,at the abbey of  Maubuisson, in the region of Val d’Oise ; it is showing an expo on The flowers in the abbey or ” L’Abbaye fleurie” by Régis Perray. the abbey is located at Rue Richard de Tour,  95310 – Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône.

A close to home anecdote on the Streets of Paris. There is one Rue Jose Maria de Heredia 7éme, name after the French Cuban poet , and named from 1909 in his memory. Born in La Fortuna, Cuba Nov 22nd 1842 and died in Houdan (Yvelines 78) in October 2, 1905.  He is part of literary groups such as  the  conference  La Bruyère  and  became  an influential  member of the  Parnassian  school.  In 1863,  he met Leconte de Lisle and collaborates in the contemporary Parnassus, while binding friendship to authors such as Sully Prudhomme, Catulle Mendès, or even Anatole France.   Elected  to  the  Académie Française  on 22 February  1894,  the Chair of  Charles de Mazade. During  the voyage  of the  Russian rulers in Paris, in 1896, he composed the Salut à l’ Empereur.  Member of the  Board of the  dictionary, he became in 1901 curator of the Bibliothèque de L’arsenal.  In 1902,  he founded  with  Sully Prudhomme and Léon Dierx  the French  poets society.  Heredia and  his wife, who,  in 1901  and 1902 , had spent their summer in Montfort-L’Amaury(Yvelines 78)   on  vacation, decided  in  1903 to change  home  and  choose the Château de Bourdonné, near Houdan (Yvelines 78) . He was  buried on  October 7 at the cemetery of Bonsecours, Rouen  (Seine-Maritime 76). In his tomb No 26, rang 19 of the 1 division of the cementary are ,also, laid to rest his mother, the husband of his first daughter, his wife, and his daughter Hélene. He has a monument in the Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris.

Rock en Seine will organise a series of free concerts in the Forum des Halles.They will be call Unexpected Festival (in French, « le festival inattendu »),you will see several groups in styles of pop ,and électro, not well known but will be feature in summer of the event Rock en Seine. Concerts At the Forum des Halles (Ier). M° Les Halles. This weekend at the domaine de Saint-Cloud will have open its gardens for the festival Concerts and water plays. An event that was in mode during the royal 17C and where the Monsieur , brother of king Louis XIV, was the organiser. This year Radio Musique will link the program with some selections from Classic to folk and Jazz

Some news from France CXXVIIII June 16, 2016

You have this June 18 the Fête de la Musique, all over France even in my small town, but in Paris at the Esplanade des Invalides (7éme) you will be put in the Canadian hour at 19h.  For the  5e édition,of the night will have 6 artists such as Half Moon Run, Busty and the Bass, Philémon Cimon, Wesli, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire, and Princess Century. The time to look towards North America.

At my Montparnasse 56 with a panoramic view on top of the Tour Montparnasse (15éme) ,work will begin that will end in 2019.  This will be a total renovation and all those architects wishing to participate can put up their bids until July 13,2016

At Saint-Ouen, 350 antique dealers will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the flea market Paul Bert. The Paul-Bert market led to the heart of the flea market in Saint-Ouen at the end of World War II. This is where flea market in Saint-Ouen  existed  since the  end of the 19C… over the remains of  an ancient vine.  In 1977,  the garage  located in its  midst has also been transformed  and covered,  and took  the name of its founder, Alain Serpette. 10, rue des Rosiers, Saint-Ouen

The T11 express tramway will be the first line from the suburbs to suburbs in the Grand Paris area , which will connect Epinay at le Bourget in July 2017,  both tram  and train,  therefore,  the future  line will be visible as a streetcar, the Ile-de-France . With a wine consomption per person over 15 years of age reaching  5,23 millions hectoliters ( 51,75 liters per person per year), Paris has the first place well ahead of Buenos Aires ,Argentina with 3,43 millions hl, 32,18 l/per/yr, The Ruhr around  Essen-Bochum-Duisbourg, Germany with 2,89 millions hl, 28,5 l/per/yr), London, UK  2,77 millions hl or 27,75 l/per/yr, and New York ,USA with 2,31 millions hl and 12,08 l/per/yr).  Arriving in 5th place  New York is nothing to surprise you as the USA is the biggest consumer of wines in the World. Only that when compare with consumption per person France continues to be the leader.

Hear all about it, as you know France, adopted a change in its regional administration areas from a previous 22 to now 13. Some kept the same name such as Bretagne, Île de France, PACA, etc etc , but the rest change. The nord pas de calais/Picardie  is now the Hauts de France and now  the old régions of Midi-Pyrénées and Languedoc-Roussillon coming under one as Occitanie (going way back to the original name of the area and language). This will be made official in the regional Council meeting of June 24th.
