I sat to think for my blog, and looking back at nostalgia decided to tell a personal note ; after all my blog is my life’s history,. Well, so much travels , vacations, and historical bits of me and my life. One thing was missing was where my dear late wife Martine worked, And this is a bit of tribute to her dedication and a great company DHL Global Forwarding with a great wonderful group of people. The pictures are by me when picking her up at work, she love it!! me too !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
A bit on the history of DHL !
DHL (Dalsey, Hillblom, Lynn) International GmbH is a parcel and courier company founded in the United States, When Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn founded DHL in 1969, they never imagined they would revolutionize the world of logistics and owned since 2002 by Deutsche Post. DHL Group is the world’s largest logistics company and operate in 220 countries and territories. The company claims to transport 1.614 billion parcels each year and has approximately 600,000 employees and managers, spread across the world. In 1998, Deutsche Post began to acquire shares of DHL. It took control of it in 2001 and bought the rest of the shares in December 2002. The company then absorbed DHL and it became its express division, while generalizing the use of the DHL brand to the other divisions of the group. Today, DHL Express shares its DHL brand with other business divisions like DHL Global Forwarding or DHL Supply Chain. It also acquires a pied-à-terre in the United States after the takeover of Airborne Express !. In December 2005, the logistics group Exel (Where my wife Martine started!! CDG Cargo area) passed into the fold of DHL. On March 2, 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the carrier announces that it has suspended deliveries to Russia and Belarus !!
The DHL Group was mainly built by successive acquisitions in different branches: Loomis and Airborne Express for the Express division; AEI, Danzas, and Exel for the Global Forwarding division, etc. The group has been able to establish itself by its size as the world number 1 in transport and has chosen to group all its activities under the single DHL brand. It now consists of five specialist divisions: DHL Express (100,000 employees) is the best known: it has historically specialized in the urgent transport of mail and parcels and includes DHL Aviation. DHL Global Mail (15,000 employees) is the international version of Deutsche Post, and therefore deals with the classic postal distribution of international mail and parcels; DHL Freight (10,000 employees) is the division specializing in land freight transport (road, rail, river) in Europe, DHL Global Forwarding at Zone Cargo 7, 27 Rue de la Belle Borne, 93290 Tremblay-en-France (30,000 employees) specializes in international freight forwarding (air, sea). DHL Supply Chain (130,000 employees) is the largest of the divisions, delivering and building bespoke, cross-divisional logistics solutions on a global scale.

They have always revolutionized, reshaped and simplified the world of logistics. From imagining the international air express industry to becoming the world leader in logistics, they are thinkers, builders and pioneers who take on any challenge possible. And today they are aiming for the ultimate limit: delivering to the moon. DHL Global Forwarding (GF) has strengthened its presence at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport with the signing of a contract for this new 16,000-sq m airfreight warehouse and office building in 2014,The new facility enables DHL Global Forwarding to relocate all of its airfreight at CDG into one location, with direct access to the apron. This was after my dear late wife Martine left them on medical retirement.

A bit of background, my wife had a car accident in the Florida Turnpike that caused the lost to her left eye, the Palmer Eye Institute could not save it, and continue working under the American system and initially in France. However, she was told here you can get an incapacity recognition and still continue with your salary. So , short of it ,she got it under Category II and was discharge from DHL Global Forwarding Roissy CDG with full salary, 50% by the French social security or Cramif services and 50% from her disability insurance carrier at work, Mercer. So sitting at home making the same salary as working!! Vive la France !!! However, there is never nothing perfect, we missed 3 important people we love a lot, we call them the YMP as my boys from early age could not pronounce their paternal grandmother name of Gladys and call her Yayi, still called mom Martine and their paternal grandfather Elio was always call Pipo by me so they stuck with that, As said , life goes on but is not the same, something big is missing,,,,
