Some news from France January,February, and March 2013 !

In my new life as retiree my blog is my biggest entertainement and before anything else, I like to thank everyone of my readers and followers to stay with me over the years since November 26 2010 !!! Thank you !!! I decided to trim some of my older posts in my series Some news from France and condense them as not to lose the most important parts, me think, of them, Therefore, this is my new work, the condense news of my belle France, Hope you enjoy it as I.

Some news from France LXXXXIIII January 11, 2013

This is the museum of hunting and nature or musée de la chase et nature; hunting under the Croates,  until March 31  from tuesdays to Sundays from 11h to 18h  except Holidays ,night out on Wednesdays until  21h30, it is located at 62 Rue des Archives  near metro Rambuteau

There is a beautiful show on fashion at the museum of decorative arts or musée des Arts Décoratifs, ” Two centuries of European fashion 1700-1915″ or Deux Siécles de Mode Européenne 1700-1915. Located at 107 Rue de Rivoli  at the pavillon Marsans extention of the Louvre

For the near term the Musée Picasso 5, rue de Thorigny  Hôtel Salé closed since November  2011, has been renovated with all the space dedicated to collections and expositions, the main plaza inside or cour d’honneur, the garden, historical decorations, all will be ready by September or October 2013

The Musée Galliera located in a mansion of the duchess de Galliera, and now the fashion museum of city of Paris or the Musée de la mode de la Ville de Paris 10 Avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie ,re open with an expo dedicated to  Azzedine Alaïa.Same time around Sept Or Oct. 2013

At the Chateau de Saché, you have Balzac. He was born at nearby Tours in  1799,he the author of the Human Comedy or ” La Comédie humaine” stay close to his region all his life. From  1825 to 1848, he visites regularly  Jean Margonne, friend of his parents in the  château de Saché. He stayed at the room in the second étage or floor (USA third floor).  Here he does  Le Père Goriot, Louis Lambert, César Birotteau , and Illusions perdues . The chateau de  Saché serves as inspiration for his work in the romance of ” Le Lys dans la vallée” .

Some news from France LXXXXV January 17, 2013

The petite Ceinture or little beltway around Paris of railroad tracks is going to be for some future use now.  32 km running parallel to the  boulevards des Maréchaux, the problems of keeping it as green basin around Paris or making it use for transports more efficients; THe local citizen will have the opportunity to express their opinion to the mayor’s office of Paris until February 14 

The égouts de Paris, came in their actual self in the 19C alongside the great works going on by Baron Haussmann. This network of water evacuation is the work of Engineer  Belgrand.  They have a total of 2100 kms!!, and takes the treated waters of the sewers of Paris to the treatment plant of Achère in the Yvelines dept 78 and then to the river  Seine. You get there by Quai d’Orsay Kiosque face au 93 with metro Alma Marceau line 9, The Catacombes de Paris. Here, the bones of Parisiens taken from cementaries at the 18C found their place. It is made up of many galleries or ways, you can only visit some of them.The visit is done at daytime with a guide on the best maintained galleries. Part of the visit is done amongst human bones! Entrance is at 1 avenue du Colonel Henri-Rol-Tanguy , Paris 14.  You get here on the metro Denfert Rochereau lines 4 and 6 or RER Denfert Rochereau B It is having problems and close to the public again.  First it was the lights for the 2KM of galleries went out, last november, the ventilation system failed, and it was just put in there in 1995!

The Chapelle Expiatoire, this chapel built in the 19C in memory of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette on the exact site whre their bodies were buried after been executed on the guillotine. It is neo classic architecture in the center of the plaza or square Louis XVI ,that is, 29 rue Pasquier, metro Havre – Caumartin lines 3/7/8/9/12/13/14.

Some news from France LXXXXVI January 24, 2013

Alicia Keys will be in Paris at Bercy Village on June 24-256th so my girl on fire will see me there or I will explode in madness…I am in touch with her in FB lol!!! and on tour in Lyon and Marseille too. This Bercy Village appearance will be the 10th anniversary of Bercy Village too

Finally ,last night took a collegue visiting on work here from South Africa, seems to enjoy the galette and crêpes of Brittany with a breton beer from St Colomban; at my favorite place in Auray, posted before ,here it is again, Crêperie Saint Sauveur, Auray where the lady of the place is 5 months pregnant expecting a boy!!! Good friends too.

Some news from France LXXXXVII  February 3, 2013

Some of the cultural highlights will be “Chagall entre guerre et paix” at the musée du Luxembourg, 19 rue de Vaugirard. Running Feb 21 to July 21 2013

Not to be outdone the Musée D’Art Moderne, 11 ave du Président Wilson,has until April 21 2013, “linder au musée d’art moderne” showing the English visual artist in action From those wishing to see the new trends in electronics music a la french go to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs until March 21 at the end of pavillon Flore in the Louvre at 107 rue de Rivoli,

The new renovated shop of the Comédie Française is open again, the theater that is. The boutique is a heaven for the art lovers with class. Honoring the French with books,objects of arts, see it at 2 rue de Richelieu, And if in Paris during Olivier Giraud comedy show do go to see him. I take claim spread the word after meeting his girlfriend and help them spread the word amongst expats in Paris, it has been a hit for over four years, and still running

And at CDG airport the first LIna Sandwich shop is open!  by the TGV level in T2,and the nice Air de Paris from stationary to gifts ,tableware, and gourmet treats   new stores just seen last week…Orly is going well with Starbucks that I saw last month, and the new free ride from parking P1  to Orly Sud

Some news from France LXXXXIII February 5, 2013

Check out the PLACE to be for American Art in Paris. The Mona Bismarck Foundation at 34 ave de New York,near trocadero. Not only the home ground of many American org and club in France since 1919 but a great art museum of American art with exchanges and history of the two countries cooperation.

Jardin de l’Observatoire,98, bd Arago, best way to get here is by metro line 6  Saint-Jacques, usually open from 13h to 17h,   it has at least 100 trees of 15 different species including a noisetier (Corylus laciniata) , and a  zelkova, large segments of flowers and great green fields with one being  900m² . From 1992, the Jardin de l’Observatoire has materialise the meridien in Paris.

Some news from France LXXXXIIII February 12, 2013 

One of the most romantic nights in Paris its the bar 228 at the Hotel Meurice , a leyend in its own time, the bar is a classic, of my wonderful days in Paris. It was redone in 2007 by a certain Starck, and well I let you see it See something different and wonderful in Paris, musée Zadkine, 100 bis, rue d’Assas, a Russian artist in Paris early 20C

Do you know that Paris has  82 marchés alimentaires or food markets  (including 13 covered) with 3 bio markets at  Batignolles, Brancusi and Raspail, all having a total of  9000 merchants non fixed.  The new one will by the porte d’Orléans , at boulevard Jourdan, between the streets of  Barboux and Farguet. It has been approved by the city of Paris, so check it out  next time in the area.

Some news from France LXXXXV February 18, 2013 

La Samaritaine store was supposed to start construction of the new building layout in three days, but some save the old stone organisations are vetoeing the move as there are some houses from the  17C and from Louis XV time that they want saved. In principle , work value at  460 millions euros -,and take 27 months to do, including a luxury hotel of 72 rooms , restaurant with terrace,  20.000 m2 of office space, 96 social low income housing apts (what a mix!!!) ,  26.400 m2 of shops spaces, a baby care center with  60 beds, and about  2000 jobs created; is all on hold.  The building bordered by the streets rue Baillet, de la Monnaie, de l’Arbre-Sec ,and Rivoli is missing some local authorisation for building codes types. So far they are claiming for the finish year 2015, still.

The pizzas in France are losing their size by a few cm, so now occupied 4,3% less in surface. However, the French stay the second most consumers of Pizzas in the World, 1) USA, 2) France , 3) Italy. The French eat on average 20 pizzas per year with the most popular the Reine (queen) and 4 fromages (four cheeses) with some coming in top places such as savoyarde, chorizo, merguez ,and tartiflette.

Go to the Hotel de Ville from now until July 6 and see the exhibtion on fashion, Paris Haute Couture, capital of fashion since the 19C. 5 rue de Lobau, to see Dior,Chanel,Mlle Vionnet,YSL or Balenciaga ,

Follow that up with pure romanticism at the musée d’Orsay, printing,sculpture,painting, the dark romanticism of the late 18C will be on display from March 5 to June 9. Don’t missed if you can The master from Honfleur Eugene Boudin at the musée Jacquemart-André.  the painter of lights, skies, that pave the way for the impressionists, as once Claude Monet said, “i owe it all to Boudin”, 60 of his work will be on display from March 22 to July 22 ,

Go to Meaux, the famous city of the cheese Brie de Meaux and Moutard de Meaux, it is even a inexpensive stepping stone to visit Disneyland, but there is something more serious and nice. The musée de la Grande Guerre or the museum of the great war, that is WWI. The most extensive collection of items from the times in Europe, from uniforms, vehicules, arms,recontruction of tranches, video presentation, and many diverse objects,only 40 minutes from Paris

The La Pléiade  library where once a month the great thinkers read Proust, Camus, Malraux, Kessel, Aragon, Sartre, and more recents Jonathan Littell, Marie NDiaye,and Alexis Jenni.  They are elevated as sage or masters,and read more than 6000 manuscripts and books every month to be able to be publishes with the famous publisher Gallimard, the readers are rated over 1,5 they are discarted,and between 1 and 1,5 they are kept

And what about those wonderful Parisien markets such as that of St Ouen marché aux puces, starting with antiques at galerie Glustin at 140 rue des Rosiers, marché Biron at 85 rue des Rosiers , at 33 et 41 Rue Paul Bert, and at 27 rue des Rosiers.

Some news from France LXXXXVII March 3, 2013

Under renovation to open in 2014. The only problem is how to name it after all is done! The commission in charge of its renovation don’t like to continue calling it the Zoo de Vincennes but rather the parc zoologique de Paris;now a senator from the opposing party in France,UMP is saying this is impossible. She suggest naming it the Parc Zoologique de Paris-Vincennes; so the political race is on while the park is not even yet able to open. As you might know the park is open here since 1934 but its closed since 2008! The park is expected to reopon in spring of 2014.

From march 22 to June 30, at the Domaine de Sceaux , you can see the exposition 1704, les salons, les Arts, le roi . It will have 520 works of arts giving during the expo in honor of the first great grandson of Louis XIV ,and this event is now organised to its identical by the Royal Academy of Paintings and Sculptures.  The domaine de Sceaux is located in the towns of Antony and Sceaux.,and it is with a castle and garden park inmense that houses the museum or Musée de l’Ile de France.Métro : Croix de Bern,RER B,and Parc de Sceaux RER B.

The Théatre Luxembourg de Meaux (my wife’s native town),at  4, Rue Cornillon Meaux 77100 in Seine et Marne , train direct from Gare de l’Est in Paris, in a time of many soirées when our younger love days,it is equipped with a very good salon and auditorium with great clarity of sound, showing each season with over 60 spectacles  going from the traditional to the modern for different tastes and likes . The Festival Hoptimum  with activities until Sept 15 2013;  an original rdv of dancers, rappers, graffiti experts both amateurs and professionals . In the program for March 23 at 14h30 ,you have  Battle Junior open to all young breakers dancers  of Ile de France region with a surprise closing show

Les Grandes Eaux Musicales in the Château de Versailles on March 29 to October 27 2013. Discover this year the magic of the fontaines et bosquets or  fountains and forest parks of the Domaine de Versailles  with its fabolous water falling and shouts at the rythme of the music. The hours and days are every Saturdays and Sundays from March 30 mars to October 27 2013 The musical gardens or Les Jardins Musicaux, from April 2 to October 29. Some news from France LXXXXVIII March 8, 2013

Art in Paris Art Fair, from March 28  to April 1st 2013 at the wonderful Grand Palais de Paris.  It will show the richness of the Parisien scene in spring with the expositions of  Adrian Paci  in Jeu de Paume, Anticorps  by Antoine d’Agata at the Bal, Correspondances  at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton, Disaster ,at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac at Pantin, Julio Le Parc at Palais de Tokyo, Ettore Sottsass  at  Sèvres-Cité de la Céramique, Walid Raad at the musée du Louvre, Alina Szapocznikow, dessins at Centre Pompidou.  Also, the Russian memory of Paris with the exposition of  Chagall, entre guerre et paix at the  Musée du Luxembourg ,and  Hugo invite Dostoïevski – Les Frères Karamazov  photograph by  Alexeï Vassiliev at the Maison Victor Hugo, without forgetting the collections of the musée Zadkine recently renovated.

The French pool table ,billard championship will be held in Croissy sur Seine; The Billard Open of Paris,  I know the town as when i came into France it was one where I was offered an apartment even without deposit, its a very nice town with the best British School in France, and finally I chose Versailles ::)  The best 32 players in France will be here

Some news from France LXXXXVIIII March 28, 2013 

Musée Maillol, 59-61 rue de Grenelle, metro rue du Bac is showing MURANO, temporary exhibit on fine glass art of murano until July 28 2013 Musée Jacquemart-André, 158 Blvd Haussmann, metro Miromesnil, is showing Eugéne Boudin the painter of Normandy and Honfleur, thought of the father of impressionism, many paintings, watercolors, and pastels Espace Dali, 11 rue Poulbot, metro abbesses and Anvers, in the heart of montmartre ,this is the only permanent collection in France of Salvador Dali with over 300 works of art This is the time for Mexico and Germany at the Musée du Louvre, 99 rue de Rivoli, metro Louvre-Rivoli. Mexico has 10 masterpieces from the 17c and 18c while Germany has over 200 works from the period 1800 to 1939. Running thru June 28 2013.

And this year is 40 years that the Tour Montparnasse has given us the thrills of seeing Paris from above; time to revisit One of the best recent museum ever made is the wonderful Musée de la Grande Guerre (it s a WWI museum), in the city of Meaux, Seine et Marne dept 77 , go there from Gare de l’est straight to Meaux.  It recounts the collection of Jean-Pierre Verney of his WWI seaches and its one of the best and most catalogued museum on the subject in the world already. Do not missed it.  It is at rue Lazare Ponticelli, Meaux,
