I came back to check out one of our favorite hangouts here, Carnac. And voilà realise several pictures missing from my blog and they should be in. On Carnac ,plenty written on it and Unesco heritage site on its megaliths stones, but for us the beach ambiance is it. And Carnac, has plenty of good beach ambiance , in fact 5 beaches ! I will tell you this time just our favorites over the years; therefore, here is my take on my best beaches of Carnac !!! And prepare for next season it will be full !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.
Briefly, the town of Carnac is indeed two. There is Carnac bourg or city center inland and there is Carnac plage or beach, along the ocean where the beaches are of course. Both are about 2 km away. Oh yes this is south of me about 30 minutes in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France!
I must admit, our favorite . Clear water, fine sand and 2 km long, the Grande Plage de Carnac is a treat for bathers and sunbathers. The Grande Plage is the largest of the five beaches in the city. In summer, swimming is supervised and water sports can be practiced safely. Two beach clubs set up there each summer. The Grande Plage or big beach, this is absolutely wonderful and our favorite for hangouts and swimming. You must come here in Summer; it can beat any in the world me think. A few steps away, you will find many restaurants and shops. Possibility of parking along the Grande Plage on bd de la plage. No dogs allowed.
The Grande Plage faces south, an ideal beach for sunbathing. It is separated from the beach boulevard by small dunes. The boulevard has a long seafront promenade starting at the Yacht Club de Carnac and ending at Pointe Churchill. The beach is also the only beach with specialized access for the motor handicapped. It also benefits from the “tourism and disability” label as well as equipment and qualified guides to welcome people with reduced mobility. Many activities are offered at the entrance to the large beach. Children’s club, beach restaurant (Le Fisher), longe-coast center (sea walking), as well as the Yatch Club at the western end for water activities.

The plage de Légenèse beach is located west of the Grande Plage and by the Carnac Yacht Club. This small format beach is very pleasant. In summer, the beach comes alive with the Marsouins beach club. There are parking spaces along the road right next to the beach. The Légenèse beach is an ideal place for swimming. Lined with rocks, the beach offers a beautiful sandy and sheltered area. Close to the road, it is very easily accessible. For sailing enthusiasts, the Carnac Yacht Club is located just east of the beach, in Port en Dro. The center also offers diving and rowing. The beach is a family beach that stretches for about 400 meters. It is delimited by two rocky areas. Légenèse is a pleasant and well-equipped beach, but does not have lifeguards during the summer season.

The plage de Saint Colomban beach is the most west of Carnac. all year round, the windsurfing spot in St Colomban is the recognized meeting place for the best windsurfers. Possibility of parking by the beach. No dogs allowed. To the extreme right of the beach you will see the bunker, this is a remnant from WWII, and still there rusting away but still there. We again saw the kids activities early on with learning to swim and all in an inflatable pool! The rocks or reefs onto the beach is a sight to see, and the white sandy beach was a delight. It is at Avenue des Dunes, and there are places to park along the beach.
The Saint-Colomban beach has a supervised swimming area, public toilets and a club for learning to windsurf. The beach faces west, so it is often subject to strong winds. The west wind makes it an ideal spot for windsurfers. Continuing on the coastal path that runs along the seaside hide small cliffs, small white sand beaches and several coves less crowded than the main beach. The small bay offers a popular setting for a Stand-up Paddle (SUP) or canoe-kayak ride in the middle of the oyster beds.
