This was mix in with other monuments and really should have a post of its own. This is the first town I lived when came to the beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of the lovely Bretagne in 2011. It is a town divided into many smaller villages or lieu-dit and the main town or bourg is where the church is, even thus I lived in Corn er Hoët (Breton, French would be Orée du Bois meaning edge of the woods). It really packs a lot of monuments with nice architecture and history for a small town, I was lucky to lived in it briefly. Therefore, let me tell you a bit more on the Chapelle Notre Dame des Fleurs of Brech. Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The Chapelle Notre Dame des Fleurs, dates from the 18C, a site of pilgrims very popular during the time of the Pardon du Printemps. Inside, the Notre Dame des Fleurs Chapel is represented in the middle of the altarpiece with fluted pilasters. The chapel is between rue Georges Cadoudal and rue Pont Douar (road D19), at the corner of rue du Stade. This chapel was restored in 1993.
There is reused fenestration from the 14C or 16C. During the restoration of the altar in 1972, a stone belonging to a dolmen was discovered: this stone is now used as an altar table. Inside there is an altar and its altarpiece in polychrome wood. The altarpiece presents, between 2 fluted pilasters, a painting where the Virgin is seated on a throne in the middle of a flower bed. The 4 oculi illuminating the nave were dressed at the end of the 20C with 4 round stained glass windows. The theme evoked is that of the 4 seasons.
