The port of Doëlan in Clohars-Carnoët !!

Again continuing in my road warrior trip we visited again a first. Behold, I have been here before but in city center Clohars-Carnoët , this time venture out into the smaller roads, and saw some more gems of my lovely Bretagne. Let me tell you a bit on the port of Doëlan in Clohars-Carnoët !!

The port of Doëlan located at address location2 Rue de keruster, has been frequented by many painters as well such as Henry Moret, Émile Jourdan, Marius Gourdault, Jacques Vaillant, Maurice Elin, Émile Compard, Lucien Demouge, Harald Heiring etc., and writers like Pierre Mac Orlan before WWI, and Paul Guimard and Benoîte Groult more recently. They frequented the hostel of the mother of Bacon in Malachappe. The painter Pierre Jacob, better known under the pseudonym of Tal Coat, is the son of a fisherman from Doëlan. Go figure great history and beautiful scenary! The red boat below is from the SNSM volunteer lifeguards which I proudly support!

This port of Doëlan is to pose for great memories! A small maritime jewel in a setting of valleys and orchards. Everything is as you dream of ; the spruce fishing boats, the stone cottages and the pretty white houses set up in tiers on the banks, the striped lighthouses…My kind of place to spent a lifetime …working on it.

The picturesque port with natural beauty, this concentrate of charm has kept its authenticity. A long slipway, some rocks and the beach of Beg An Tour allow pleasant swimming. Don’t rush to get to Doëlan! The winding country roads that lead to the port reveal delightful panoramas. Confidential site located between the oyster beds of Bélon (see post the best ! )and the peaceful Laïta river, the port of Doëlan nestles in a narrow and deep ria which offers a benevolent haven.

And you may have seen it on television (Fr), in the Doc Martin series partly shot in Doëlan (named Port-Garrec in the series)… On the left bank, you face the famous white and green lighthouse of Doëlan, and you are next to the former Captain Cook cannery. This cannery still exists, but it has moved to Clohars-Carnoët city proper.
