The market of Vannes !!!

And here I am again telling you about my wonderful beautiful capital city of Vannes in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France! This is an underrated city that must be visit more and I know we have plenty to see here but you come and will be hook by it, I took new pictures for my blog for you and me. This is the awesome market on Saturday mornings is top at least in Brittany, me and other attest, We parked at parking République across the street! Therefore, I will tell you more on the market of Vannes !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Come to think of going shopping and to us , the word market comes to mind immediately. Sure modern life has its hypermarkets and such, but when it comes to food, edible kind the markets are still IT. In France, they have a centuries old tradition of excellence where you get the best culinary delights known to men in culinary champion France.  The markets in my adopted region of Brittany, and dept 56 of Morbihan are no different. In fact, they can play with any anytime and popular shows attest to their beauty and abundance, The markets of Vannes are tops. On  Wednesday and Saturday mornings ,we go on Saturday bigger); the flea market of Vannes, full of fancy jewellery, new clothes and fripes, underwear, shoes, flowers, plants, but also food with fruits and vegetables, spices, cakes, cheese dairy, pizzas, etc. It is one of the first markets in Brittany which is accessed by the place Lucien-Laroche, but also by Rue Saint-Vincent and rue Le Hellec,(as we come in), opposite the post office. It is spread over the Place des Lices and the Place du Poids Public,(see posts), that offer you all the fresh products you want: fish, delicatessen, caterer, dairy slag, cellar. From  8h to 13h.

We go on the same street as the below for the cheeses this time Laiterie Menhir or Menacer,both a wonderful selection of cheeses from all over France, and friendly ,talkative, knowledgeable service.

Authentic and friendly, the market has become an entertainment in itself. From Place des Lices to Place de la Poissonnerie, via Place du Poids Public, you will meet local producers who will add flavor to your city trip. Greengrocers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, charcutiers… These Bretons have a sense of contact and a taste for good things. For the second year in a row, the 
Vannes market  was chosen as the most beautiful market in Brittany , as part of the “your best market. This is from our usual wonderful fruit and veggies merchants of Morocco, Algeria, and Albania in the market at Vannes! Aksil Azeddine that originates the business from Saint Sebastién sur Loire/Nantes. We were so happy and impressed by the fact that the merchants recognise us !!! I could not believe it ! After all these years missing, and finally the effort to go back to something always came with my dear late wife Martine, I was standing in front of our favorite fruit and veggies stand, and both the lady and guy came out to greet us and to say Hi ! Giving us freebies to taste and to take home as usual, Market life at its best human form ! We love it !!! 

Other than our usual fruits and veggies stand already mentioned, we stopped by the Asian traiteur a friendly Vietnamese very talkative who gave us the sweets of his country banh bo cakes for free! We purchase the whole from cantonese rice, beef vegetables, tiger shrimps, noodles and vegetables, beef and pork samoussas !!! Superbe!

As in all excellence there has to be a competition to fine tune your qualities, and we take food seriously here. So the French TV chain TF1 guided by Jean-Pierre Pernaut started a contest voted on online for the most beautiful market of France back in 2018. The results were in and Vannes arrived in 10th position; not bad for a start as I think can go even higher. 10th most beautiful market in France is a complement indeed. The votes came in last June with over 3,8 million persons participating in the voting. The second season of the most beautiful market in France will return to TF1. Jean-Pierre Pernaut will  again present a special page dedicated to the winning market in his 13h TV news on June 10 2019 and Vannes arrives in 8th position; we did better deservently so..  And again in 2020 , we did not win as Roscoff won but we finish second in Bretagne.  The official vote for the most beautiful market of France: https://www.tf1info.fr/votre-plus-beau-marche/

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
