This is the story of an encounter. After hearing much about them , I came to meet a wonderful good girl from Meaux that worked nearby and glad to show me this magnificent heritage of France, My dear late wife Martine took me to the old museum couple times over the years, and glad found me a couple pictures of the new place that should be in my blog for you and me, Even thus not been to the new place its nostalgia time Baccarat !!! Therefore, let me tell you my take on the Maison Ducasse-Baccarat of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The Maison Ducasse-Baccarat is located at 11 Place des États-Unis across from the Square Thomas Jefferson on the 16éme arrondissement of Paris They are reinventing the historic Maison Baccarat , transforming it into a place for experiences, moments of life, and unexpected encounters where art and craftsmanship intersect. Within the Ducasse Baccarat spaces, discover on the first floor the Alain Ducasse Baccarat restaurant, voted “The Most Beautiful Restaurant in the World” by the 2025 Prix Versailles, a global architecture and design award, as well as the Midi-Minuit bar, a vibrant space that comes alive throughout the day. On the ground floor of the house, discover a restaurant and bar with direct access to the Jérémie Attali Garden.

A quintessential artists’ residence, the private mansion hosted some of the most glamorous parties of the cultural avant-garde in the 1920s. True to this cherished heritage, Baccarat celebrates the reopening of this legendary venue by inviting guests to be captivated by the works of artists deeply inspired by the art of crystal. Upon entering, the transformative artist Harry Nuriev interprets the origins of crystal. A few steps away, a chapel of light, an immersive work by Pierre Tatin, draws visitors into the very heart of Baccarat’s essence. Throughout the Maison, and particularly within the restaurant, the raw aura of Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut’s oak sculptures resonates with the brilliance of the crystal. Within the boutique, Philippe Nigro pays homage to the artisans of the Baccarat factory, a celebration that continues in the tasting cellar where the painter Gérard Garouste brings to life the four elements : Water, Earth, Air, and Fire essential to the alchemical creation of crystal.

In the ballroom, beneath Baccarat chandeliers set against the original wood paneling, Alain Ducasse welcomes guests as if they were at home. The room can be reserved for private events. Stepping into the boutique on the ground floor of the Maison is like spending time with the Baccarat artisans. Designer Philippe Nigro drew direct inspiration from the factory for the scenography. An evocation of the old pot furnace in the hot-works hall guides the perspective of the room. Timeless icons alongside new creations are unveiled, including the Maison’s 260th anniversary collection designed by Marcel Wanders.

The Baccarat Museum was a museum exhibiting a selection of pieces made by the Baccarat crystalworks in Lorraine. in the former private mansion of Marie-Laure de Noailles, which was redesigned by Philippe Starck in 2003. Before moving to this address in 2003, the Baccarat Museum was located at Nos 30 and 30bis Rue de Paradis in the 10éme arrondissement (near my dear late wife Martine’s job in Paris!), in the premises of a former Baccarat warehouse and bronze workshop. The museum closed permanently in December 2023.
A bit of history I like tell us that in 1764, in eastern France, a group of audacious artisans decided to transform the four elements of nature:earth, air, fire, and water into glass of exceptional quality. In 1816, they succeeded in developing a closely guarded secret formula that allowed them to obtain crystal of unparalleled purity. In 1855, at the first Universal Exhibition in Paris, Baccarat unveiled its unique expertise to the world. A few years later, by creating a crystal temple in homage to the god Mercury, and then a ship with a monumental prow, Baccarat continued to dazzle, winning numerous medals at every major national and international exhibition. From furniture specially designed for the Maharajas of India to the majestic “Tsar’s” candelabra created for Nicholas II, from the impressive collection of lighting fixtures for Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul to the pieces commissioned by Napoleon III for his apartments in the Louvre and the Tuileries, from refined pieces for the Japanese imperial court to the Juvisy service that has graced the state tables of the Élysée Palace since 1899, Baccarat shines its light on the courts of the world. From parties to elegant receptions, Baccarat enchants the venues and captivates the elite. From the Duke of Windsor to Aristotle Onassis, from Josephine Baker to the Princess of Monaco, from Marilyn Monroe to Karl Lagerfeld, from Kris Jenner to Gigi Hadid, Baccarat transcends trends and seduces, in every generation, hedonists and trendsetters alike. Salvador Dalí, Ettore Sottsass, Philippe Starck, Jaime Hayon, Marcel Wanders, Virgil Abloh ; the greatest artists and designers have also succumbed to the allure of Baccarat. Today, Baccarat boasts 50 crafts directly linked to creation within its manufacture, 14 Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsmen of France), the largest number among French houses, and 2 Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres (Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters).
