The Church Saint Nizier of Troyes !!

Let me tell you about an off the beaten path City of Troyes, in the dept 10 of the Aube, in the region of the Grand Est of my belle France , It is located in the historical and cultural region of Champagne, of which it was the county capital. It is crossed by the Seine. This is a nice church found in my road warrior trails and glad found me a couple pictures in my cd rom vault to do this post for you and me, Therefore, let me tell you about the Church Saint Nizier of Troyes !!  Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Church Saint-Nizier is dedicated to Nizier of Lyon, a bishop of Lyon who played a significant role in the Second Vatican Council. It is one of the oldest religious monuments in the city, located on the site of a late Roman oratory dedicated to Saint Maur. At that time, the church stood outside the city walls. Bishop Gallomonge brought the relics of Saint Nizier from Lyon, where they were placed in the parish church. Since 1080, this parish had been under the patronage of the cathedral chapter and included Labourat, Bourg-Saint-Jacques, and parts of Chaillouet and Tauxelles.

The current Church Saint Nizier dates from the 16C. The apse has stained-glass windows from 1505, the north portal from 1531, and the west portal from 1580. It is built on a rectangular plan with three naves and four bays and was roofed in 1582. It is Gothic in style, except for the first two bays of the nave and the north portal. The tower was built between 1602 and 1606 for the first level, then in 1608, and finally the large bays with casement windows between 1612 and 1619. The north portal is Renaissance in style and bears the monograms of Diane de Poitiers and Henry II; it was completed in 1548. The west portal dates from 1574 and features monograms beginning with the letter C, for Charles X. The south portal is Gothic in style with a canopy. Built in the Flamboyant Gothic style, it was constructed in 1531.

The Church Saint Nizier apse and nave are flooded with light through large stained-glass windows. Some stained glass was ordered by the church, while others came from other churches and were installed in the 17C. The organ was built in 1851. The church houses a collection of 16C statues such as John the Evangelist (wood), Joseph and the Infant Jesus (limestone), a Christ of Pity (limestone and polychrome), a Pietà (limestone and polychrome), the Entombment (limestone), Mary (oak), and Mark and the Lion (limestone). It also possesses paintings such as an altarpiece depicting the Apparition of Saint Nizier from the late 18C; a Resurrection of Christ; the Good Shepherd; a Saint Surrendering His Soul (18C); Saint Peter and Saint Paul; and the Pilgrims of Emmaus (19C). Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
