The Port Cergy of Cergy !!!

I am digging deep again at my cd rom vaults and found these wonderful pictures of a memorable spot for my family, dear to us as many times there while working nearby and was able to bring the family as well. This is Cergy in the department 95 of Val-d’Oise in the région of Île-de-France of my belle France, Memorable town because my dear late wife Martine took a bus connecting her route to work in Roissy CDG airport. Therefore, here is my take on the Port Cergy of Cergy !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Port Cergy is the oldest marina in the Île-de-France region, opened in 1991. This marina, well-known to residents of Val-d’Oise dept 95, offers a welcome respite from the urban environment, right in the heart of the city, just a stone’s throw from the concrete buildings and constant hustle and bustle of Cergy-Préfecture. The Port Cergy marina can accommodate around sixty boats ranging from 5 to 22 meters in length.

The Port Cergy is one of the most iconic landmarks of Cergy-Pontoise metro area (see post) , but its history is closely linked to the very creation of the new town. To understand its origins, one must go back to the 1960s-1980s, a period when the French government launched a vast development program to address the population growth of the Île-de-France region. Cergy-Pontoise was then one of the new towns conceived to relieve congestion in Paris and offer new, modern, airy, and better-structured urban centers. In this context, water quickly became central: the proximity of the Oise river, the ponds, canals, and natural spaces became key elements of the future living environment.

I came here for a business lunch and love it while working nearby in Cergy Saint Christophe (see post) upon entering France and made a point to bring the family over and it was a hit, My dear late wife Martine love it, and came back several times, The marina is surrounded by restaurants such as our favorites (in dark): Hippopotamus (Grill), La Crêperie du Port – The Old English Pub, La Rôtisserie O (Savoyard), Le Millésime du Port, Les Jardins du Port, La Taverne des Rois, Léon Fish Brasserie – Port Cergy, Lina’s Tea,and La Bodega.

The port Cergy is at 6 Quai de la Tourelle, and best by car from Paris take the Autoroute A15 dir Rouen to exit/sortie 9, and follow Bd du Port all the way to end parking along the boulevard or Avenue Jean Bart at end, Of course, by car I came always from Versailles 32 km away along Rue de la Paroisse, right on Bd du Roi left around Place de la Loi bear right onto BD Saint Antoine, same road becomes Route de Saint Germain and Route de Versailles or D186 road go undernearth the A13 autoroute becoming the N186 road continue to Marly le Roi along the Route de Marly bear right on Place de l’Abreuvoir and continue on Avenue de l’Abreuvoir or D386 road continue same road changing names and back to D186 road by Avenue de Saint Germain bear slighlty left onto the N13 highway passing by Saint Germain en Laye continue bearing right onto Avenue Albert Priolet or N184 road continue thru City center continue on rue des Princes with the forest of St Germain on your right hand side continue crossing the Seine river on the passerelle Saint Nicolas continue same road by City center Conflans-Sainte-Honorine then bear left onto Bd Salvador Allende or D203 road then bear right over the Oise river on Bd de l’Hautil then bear left on Rue du Bruloir continue to left onto Bd du Port and straight into the port de Cergy,

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
