A Chopin hotel and a Grévin museum of Paris !!!

I take you now to the unmissible eternal Paris, one of the things that make it so special for millions of folks around the world, The most beautiful city in the world is very fitting indeed !!! I have been to it on foot, by car, trains, metro , tram and again, never tired of been in Paris. A couple of places that help make this city unique need further writings in my blog; they make a wonderful combination this Chopin and Grévin ,Therefore, here is my take on a Chopin hotel and a Grévin museum of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I.

The Passage Jouffroy is located by 10-12 boulevard Montmartre / 9 rue de la Grange-Batelière in the 9éme arrondisseent. (see post), The Passage Jouffroy is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic, inaugurated in 1846 by Count Felix de Jouffroy-Gonsans, the ancestor of the current owners of the passage, it owes its fame to the Musée Grévin Museum (see post) which moved there in 1882. It was at the time one of the most modern, it even had an underfloor heating system, to allow walkers to window shop in the warmth. It is in fact the ancestor of shopping centers! This passage is built on an old medieval road, which still exists, these are the basements! A few meters below the tourists’ steps, is exactly the same gallery, serving the cellars of all the shops in the passage. We find there the steps which descend into the second part of the passage and the famous heating system by the floor grilles. The paving stones of this underground street prove the antiquity of this road,

The musée Grévin is access by the Passage Jouffroy or popularly the wax museum is at 10 blvd Montmartre, 9éme arrondissement reach by metro Grands Boulevards lines 8, and 9. It has been renovated and has about 300 wax figures inside, from Charles de Gaulle,Céline Dion, to Michael Jackson etc. The great Hall of mirrors created for the Universal Expo of 1900 is great, a display sequence of the history of France, and a great children’s corner. This museum is going on since 1882, its magical inside especially if with young adults. In 1882, Arthur Meyer, director of the newspaper Le Gaulois, had the idea of associating with Alfred Grévin, then famous caricaturist, to create a gallery of characters in wax. The Grévin museum (see post)  has been the great attraction of the neighborhood since 1882. The shops of the passage are always of quality: modists, tailors, hairdressers, liners, gentières etc. The theaters are still numerous, and the restaurants are always full. The Grands Boulevards remain popular; it’s pleasant to stroll along them in the evening after the cinema.

From the Passage Jouffroy you have the entrance to the Hôtel Chopin owes its name to the famous composer who once enjoyed the Passage Jouffroy. Located in the heart of the lively Grands-Boulevards quartier/neighborhood, it opened in 1846, the year the Passage Jouffroy was built, making it one of the oldest hotels in Paris. It’s a true oasis of calm; no room faces the street; the majority of the rooms overlook the rooftops of Paris. Originally known as a hôtel des familles or family hotel, its door has never been closed since 1846; it doesn’t even have a lock! There has been a person at reception since that date, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day without interruption for 175 years!. Renamed Hôtel Chopin in 1970, its name is a tribute to the composer who regularly passed through the passage on his way to the Pleyel piano demonstration rooms from his home. The musician used to cross this passage when he went to the heart of the city, and it is even said, but the information is not certain, that he spent a few secret stays in this hotel with George Sand…
