I was again by my wonderful capital City of Vannes, and of course took some new pictures walking around but the highlight was going in again to the nice Halles des Lices covered market on the Place des Lices, and it was great again !! I used to come a lot often when my dear late wife Martine was around, and needed some time to be back, It had memories forever in this market, one of the best, Of course, this is in my wonderful capital city of Vannes in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France! I took a swing and took more pictures, never enough this is tops worth the visit to the City alone, and it was a blast, Therefore, here is my take on the Halles des Lices covered market of Vannes !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Halles des Lices or covered market are open every day from 8h30 to 13h30 except on Sundays and Mondays. During the summer season, they are open 7 days a week from 8h30 to 14h and on Friday afternoons from 16h to 19h30. Located on the place des Lices, allows you to fill your basket of good local products (vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats…), but also offers a few dishes to eat in for lunch in the middle of stalls on a tasting area. Thirty traders welcome you all year. We came in basically to browse window shopping but as usual we end up buying ! We took our lunch at the Sandwicherie – Rôtisserie – Maison Vénète for great tasty ham goat cheese sandwhiches , mousse au chocolat and granini orange juice for me, Nice light lunch indeed, The usual trio of cheeses, brie, brebis and chévre at the La fromagerie des Halles, and for extra sweets , of course, the prize La pâtisserie Alain Chartier, Always worth it to stop by the Halles des Lices covered market !

The highlight of my visit was founding at the La Fromagerie des Halles of M/Mme Nicols my favorite cheese Brie Saint Faron that before could only find it visiting the source at the Fromagerie Saint Faron of Meaux (77). Of course, native dear late wifeMartine introduce me to this cheese of kings, king of cheeses (Vienna 1815) in 1990, and hook ever since. The anecdote of the story is that arrived five minutes before closing, they were packing lol !!

The Place des Lices is originally a former free space devoted to tournaments and other outdoor exercises that took place in the Middle Ages. a market which is still held today every Wednesday and Saturday of the week. In 1912, the square was provided with a covered market for small producers, which in 2000 was replaced by a new covered market or halle The Halles is a wonderful covered market that is open every day with over 30 merchants inside. This is the Halles des Lices as it is right in the
Place des Lices; the back street is the ramparts of the old town.
