I am coming back at you with this quant nice small town near me better known for the church and cider production but a huge historical impact on the area. This is the story of the megaliths stones, Of course, Colpo is in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely region of Bretagne and in my belle France, Let me tell you about the megalithique site of Larcuste in Colpo !!! The megalithic site of Larcuste is a prehistoric site located in the homonymous hamlet in the town of Colpo. It consists of two cairns, one of which contains two dolmens with a corridor. The Larcuste site is located in the village of Larcuste, part of the town of Colpo,

The megalithic heritage of the town is particularly rich with the sites of the Larcuste cairns as well as the dolmen in a covered driveway and the menhirs of Kerjagu. That of Larcuste is composed of two cairns enveloping dolmens (burials) with original architectures and which is considered a major set in Brittany, This monument is visited freely and benefit from presentation panels. From Vannes you take the road D767 direction Locminé to the panel saying Colpo and Larcuste follow the panel for Larcuste and park at the entrance to the path leading to the tumulus to join the mounds by the path which climbs slightly between the two fields. Less than 200 meters from the road, you will the mounds and the explanatory panel.

I have this elsewhere in other posts but for reference to tell a bit of the differences of these old stones, here is some definitions, A Menhir name given to designate a erect stone stele that can be isolated or part of a megalithic enclosure or alignments. The Dolmen name given to designate a funeral chamber in stone, most often comprising a monumental cover slab, remaining of a monument covered with a tumulus or cairn, very often disappeared by erosion or human action, The Mound or tumulus: is an artificial mound mainly composed of soil covering a burial in the form of a closed cellar or cist, without access corridor. The term tumulus is more vague, when the interior architecture remains unknown. The Cairn is a tumulus composed of earth and dry stones which covers one or more corridor tombs. The Mégalithic enclosure is an ensemble made up of erect stones forming an open space in arc or in the shape of horseshoe or more rarely quadrangular.

Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
