The pointe de Penvins of Sarzeau !!!

I bring you back to my beautiuful Morbihan and lovely Bretagne as well as my belle France, This is in the wonderful Presqu’Ïle de Rhuys where we have visited several times with many posts, I found me an older pic in my cd rom vault, ,but new to the blog and should be here for you and me The area here has several beaches and wonderful natural spaces. Let me tell you about the pointe de Penvins of Sarzeau !!! .Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The pointe de Penvins of approximately 800 meters long, it extends from north to south in the Mor braz (Atlantic Ocean) near the village of Penvins. It is bordered, by the Landrezac beach , and, by the small Penvins beach. In its narrowest part, the point measures less than 50 meters in width. It then widens considerably to form a grassy rectangle measuring 500 meters by 200 to 300 meters. In Sarzeau, Kitesurfing is ideally practiced with West and South-West winds, and in favorable conditions with East, South and South-East winds. The plage de Penvins beach, a long family beach overlooked by the Notre Dame de la Côte Chapel, is one of the liveliest beaches. Indeed, it is an exceptional spot for kite-surfing and a favorite area for kite-flying enthusiasts. It also has a sailing, kite-surfing and stand-up paddle school.

The current Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Côte chapel was rebuilt on the ruins of a 17C chapel. Its Greek cross layout allows it to better withstand the strong winds blowing in from the sea. It is surmounted by a statue of Notre Dame (Our Lady). Among the stained-glass windows, one depicts the Blessed Virgin holding a distaff in her left hand, while her right hand appears to be repelling the English invaders (the flag of the English kingdom can be seen on the prow of the ship), thus wanting to protect the place and its inhabitants. The words below the window read: “The Blessed Virgin preventing the landing of the English on the land of Penvins.” In the stained-glass window opposite the entrance, the coats of arms of Olivier de Langlais and his wife Edwige de Francheville (who had the chapel rebuilt) are displayed. Above the entrance door, a round stained-glass window depicts a churchman praying to the Blessed Virgin and Child.

Due to its situation, the Pointe de Penvins (tip) allows you to admire the extent of Quiberon’s bay, in which the coasts of Damgan, Pénestin, Piriac, Belle-Ile-en-Mer and the shores of Suscinio castle are emerging. It has a large number of landscape assets, and some buildings dating from WWII (blockhouse, well, former corps-de-garde). The walk on the dike and its views of the ocean, its remarkable geographical location, the dune cord, the marshes and the beaches are sublime natural beauty.
