We come by here always, we eat here , enjoy it here ,ride boats here, and do shopping galore on many items yet I need to tell you more, I have stop by this week again and even if we come many times sometimes need to show it, After all as said, my blog is my life’s history !!! I like to start with a bit of an anecdote, the first restaurant we visit in place Gambetta was called the Le CatWay ,and it became a favorite facing the marina in the Le Port area, My first visitor from USA took her here and it was a blast, Later on, the place by some real estate family issues was change management and name to become the Le Gambetta, We came here several times mostly on a quick eating and drinking mode so continue our journey, For a basking in the sun ambiance and good cheers ,next to Porte Saint-Vincent,(see post), it was very popular. The service all day long, but slow beyond regular French time, and the food well the pizzas were not well cook on the edges, For a beer killing time and the great views it was great , Again, time away and the place was completely remodeled , change ownership and a new name the Brasserie Saint Vincent ! Took some time to be back but were this week for a nice cold beer again, and taste the ambiance, We find it too commercial with a hurry up service too bad not a good impression but memories lingered here of better times,

We passed by this place on the Place des Lices (see post) square many times and always pack, This time tables were available and we finally tried it, This is the Délice Café, and we love it ; it will be a must-visit in Vannes for a pleasant stay. We enjoy the mokachino and ice teas of different flavors, Our dog Rex was well received and water was brought to hime without even asking for it ! We did a quick refreshement stop but will definitively be back for more for a total friendly experience. No web

We have come here and elsewhere on the steakhouse chain Hippopotamus, its been a while but still around there a lot and we do will be back eventually, This is a chain of meat restaurants established in 1968; mainly present in France, it belongs to the Flo group, majority owned by the Bertrand group The bit of story here is that Christian Guignard launches a first grill restaurant not far from the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris where a rib of beef, presented on a thick wooden board, is to be cut with a very sharp knife; the meat is accompanied by matchstick fries. In 1992, the Flo Group, led by Jean-Paul Bucher, purchases the entire capital of Hippopotamus, but decide to concentrate in up gamme and in 2017 goes Hippopotamus to the Bertrand Group, (holders of many hospitality outfits). The largest restaurant on surface of Vannes opened its doors last past Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Royal d’Asie, Asian buffet, the place offers Asian specialties (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese or Thai). settled in place of the old Tati dept store, on 1,300 m², and will be able to accommodate up to 350 guests. At the back of the large room, a space where customers can ask to grill meat before their eyes, served with homemade sauces, and another reserved for woks minute have been fitted out for formulas that will be offered at the price of € 13.90 ( today up to € 17.90) lunch from Monday to Friday; at € 19.90 on midday on weekends and holidays, We went for lunch,

Le Rest’ô is located at 4 Rue Aristide Boucicaut, just across from the Speed Park and near the Cinéville cinema, The restaurant offers 140 indoor seating, plus 60 seats on the terrace. Here for the memories of always. It was the Poivre Rouge before which we came even more, a memorable spot indeed We made reservation with the manager Laurence and quickly got an email confirmation, The welcome was grand as we got there exactly at 12h noon, A very friendly and warm welcome by all indeed. Dog friendly yes !!,and Family style. I was not going for something fancy just a memorable spot for a memorable date. I had my fish and chips, with fries, and 3 scoops of ice cream for dessert. Before, we started out with our apéro or entry drink and had my usual Porto Red. The meal was had with a white Saint Veràn 2022 from the Domaine du Val Lamartinien, superbe!! My sons all had different menus and our Rex had his fries and water! Sublime as always. This restaurant took over from a previous chain called Le Poivre Rouge which we hade patronise, unfortunately closed a while back do not know why as was with the same attitude and good food as this one, This Le Rest’O new brand was created by Romain Coni and his wife. The couple previously managed Le Poivre Rouge, bought before confinement by La Boucherie (see post). The managers immediately opted for their independence by creating their own concept. It has gone thru new management under the name of Bistro Regent, and online it says closed temporarily.
