The Chapelle Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle of Locronan !!!

I am staying in my neighbor Finistére dept 29 ,and in my lovely Bretagne and take you again to Locronan. We have gone all over here and never stop amaze of the wonders encounters. However, I like to indulge you with a bit more on a wonderful monument that must be seen, and often stays in the off the beaten path rack, Therefore, here is my take on the Chapelle Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle of Locronan !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I.

I took an intrepid walk down a ravine very steep to see the Chapelle de Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle 15C-18C. It is a rectangular chapel separated in two by a diaphragm arc and wearing a tin amortized in dome. The tin dates from the 18C. The chapel houses the statues of the Virgin Mother in Peter (17C), Holy Trinity in Peter (17C), Saint Francis, Saint John bishop and a descent of the Cross in stone (16C).

The Chapelle Notre Dame de Bonne Nouvelle  dedicated to Saint Eutrope. The stained glass windows were made in 1985 according to drawings by the painter Alfred Manesser. The Chapel also houses numerous stone statues, including those of the Virgin Mother, the Holy Trinity and a descent of the Cross. This chapel is mentioned in the Testament of Jean Le Moine of 1439. It constitutes the fifth station of the route of the Grande Troménie.

The Grande Troménie is one of the biggest processions in Brittany. The next one will take place from 2nd to 3rd Sunday in July in 2025! This procession, a great moment of the expression of the Breton faith, is rooted and continues to prosper on this sacred earth of the Celtic soul. The course of the troménie is over 12 km, marked by 12 stations marked with 12 granite crosses and 42 small huts where one of our old saint statues come to shelter in each of them, carved in wood or stone. They left their church or chapel to come and greet the passage of pilgrims and relics of Saint Ronan. Awesome !!!

Nearby, the Calvary and the fountain, offered by a canvas merchant named Conan, date from 1698. The Calvaire is dedicated to Saint Eutrope. He is according to leyend the 13 apostle. It was martyred for having been stoned and shot for converting the daughter of a Roman governor of Saintes. The Calvary is one of the few monuments of this type built in limestone. A Madonna and Child is carved on his lapel,on the other side are represented Angels gathering the blood of Christ.

I was able to see going back from the city center a nice wash house or lavoir, old indeed. You go down on rue Moal, and take left on the calvaire you see the fountain and wash house.
