The Tour de France 2025, part I !!!

This is a special post on a special race the family on my dear late wife Martine used  follows dearly every year, They are gone now , but we try to continue the tradition and either go to Pau or watch on tv the race, Lately, lucky they have passed near us and allows to see them in person, Next year will be another opportunity! Let me tell you about it now to allow for planning by those afar, and be aware this is a wonderful time to visit my belle France ,Of course, this post will be in my black and white series, no pictures, Therefore, let me make this special post on the fabolous Tour de France 2025, part I !!! The Tour de France 2025 will be 3320 km with 176 runners divided into 22 teams, They will run thru 11 regions and 34 departments with 21 stages of which 7 plain, 6 accidental routes, 6 mountain with five arrivals at altitude in Hautacam, Luchon- Superbagnères, Mont Ventoux, Courchevel Col de la Loze and La Plagne Tarentaise, In the Col de la Loze (2,304 m) will be the highest point of the 2025 Tour. The climb will be carried out for the first time by its eastern slope, on the Courchevel side. 2 against the clock.There will be 2 days of rest,

Of a total of 39, 8 sites or cities will join the family of the Tour de France! My favorites are Bayeux(departure from the 6th stage) ,Chinon (departure from the 9th stage), and Mantes-la-Ville (departure from the 21st stage, And my favorite stages will be :

Stage 1 5 July start in Lille -Lille 185 km

Stage 4 8 july Amiens to Rouen 173 km

Stage 6 10 july Bayeux to Viré 201 km

Stage 7 11 July Saint Malo, Mur de Bretagne/Guerlédan 194 km

Stage 8 12 July Saint Méen le Grand to Laval Espace Mayenne 174 km

Stage 11 16 July Toulouse-Toulouse 154 km

Stage 14 19 July Pau to Luchon to Superbagnéres 183 km

Stage 19 25 July Albertville to La Plagne 130 km

Stage 21 (final) 27 July Mantes la Ville to Paris Champs Elysées 120 km

The big departure of the 4th edition of the Tour de France 2025 women will be given from Brittany !!!, with a first step in the heart of Morbihan !!! (my dept 56) and the second through Finistère (dept 29). It is a first for a test which chooses to pay tribute to a region where cycling plunges in deep roots! The 2025 edition will also mark a turning point in the history of the Tour de France women, which will be competed for the first time on nine days of racing!

My favorite stages passing near and will see about seeing them are:

Stage 1 Vannes to Plumenec , July 26, 2025 , 95km, From the port of Vannes, on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan, via Arradon, the stage will conclude on the Plumelec circuit. Its arrival at the top of the hill of Cadoudal (1.7 km at 6.2 %) was the scene of many battles in the Grand Prix of Morbihan, both for women and for men. It was also at its summit that Bernard Hinault and Alejandro Valverde put on the first yellow jersey of the Tours de France 1985 and 2008,

Stage 2 Brest to Quimper July 27, 130km, In Brest, Place de la Liberté will relive the heyday of the Grand Departure of 2021. And the runners will start for an accidental course, crossing Châteaulin and punctuated from the coasts of Menez Quelerc’h and Locronan, one of the most beautiful villages in France. The final, in Quimper, will be drawn into a loop through the city before arrival at the height of a hill (1 km at 4.8 %), the Bihan Stang, where Peter Sagan had made his power speak for to win the 5th stage of the 2018 Tour de France.

.Stage 3 La Gacilly to Angers July 28, 162 km, It is from La Gacilly, already a city-stage of the Tour de Bretagne and the Tour de l’Avenir, that the peloton will start to leave Brittany. The hometown of Yves Rocher, founder of the eponymous brand, is a nicely flowery city which is languidly nestled in the green valley of the Aff.

Stage 4 29 July Saumur to Poitiers 128 km passing by Chinon ,ïle Bouchard, and Richelieu! The tradition of city -start of the Tour will therefore perpetuate itself in Saumur after the 1987 flight to Futuroscope, when Stephen Roche won in a time-trial heralding his final victory in Paris; And that of 2016, in the direction of Limoges, where Marcel Kittel made his speed of speak for him. Poitiers, “The city of a hundred bell towers”, theater of battles which shaped the history of France, offered its framework for four arrivals of stages of the Tour. Jean Forestier (1955), Jean-Pierre Danguillaume (1971), Sean Kelly (1978) and more recently Caleb Ewan (2020) successively raised their arms.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
