The gastronomic and wine fairs of Nantes and Vannes !!!

My fav event in the area ,and now expanding, The events were held in Vannes and we participated every year since in the region by 2012, They have change name but still the same format of gastronomy and wines of the best of France, the tradition continues!!  Nowdays, we came to Nantes on Saturday November 16 and then Vannes on November 23rd 2024. Let me tell you about our latest forays into the best of my belle France, Therefore, this is my take on the gastronomic and wine fairs of Nantes and Vannes !!! Hope you enjoy it as I 

This year we went to both event within a week, In the first one at the Parc Des Exposition de la Beaujoire in Nantes on November 13 , we made it and parked in the P&R parking Beaujoire, We needed to walk a bit as the place is huge and they were having a manga artsy fair as well with costumes ! We made it easy to Hall 4 where the Salon aux Vignobles in Nantes November 15-17 2024 from 10h to 18h event was held, We were invited for free after many trips and went in and out fairly quickly, The halls were full and lots of business tasting and buying the goodies of my belle France.

However, the main reason we came all the way to Nantes was that our favorite house was not coming to Vannes this year and only at Nantes, So we came to see them, this is the basques of Maison Gastellou from Saint Jean Pied de Port (sheep cheese, filet mignon sausages, ham in espilette spice, gateau basque cake, saucissons), We have come to know them over the year and even visited their store in Saint Jean Pied de Port ! They have own farm and produce all artisanal the way nature tell us and we love it, We again got our brebis raw milk cheese, basque cake cream and cherry as well as sandwiches with the ham and cheese as for lunch, Delicious as always.

Next we came to our usual event SAGA or Salon de la Gastronomie et Arts Culinaires in the Chorus Parc des Expositions in the Parc du Golfe. This was our chance again to be with the wonders of French culinary fame on Saturday November 23rd 2024, The general admission 5€! (we get invited by the merchants so free admission) ,More than 100 exhibitors representing French gastronomy and sorted for the quality of their products. Wine and food tasting during the show from all corners of my belle France.  From November 23-25, 2024 the SAGA (Salon de la Gastronomie et des Arts Culinaires) at the Chorus parc Expo in Vannes with more wines and goodies, Here we came especially to me to see/taste/buy from our good old friends of Cousseau-Boireau in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil in the Loire, We have been to their property and follow them on the shows, great wines at good quality/price ratio for everyday use. Of course, the basques were there for the food and great lunch!!

And we did buy a bunch of cartons for the holiday season lol! At Cousseau-Boireau we purchase the Veilles Vignes Kermelise 2023 and the Cuvée Histoire Continue Vieilles Vignes 2021 just perfect and great company once again. We took advantage to buy our Champagne carton for the season from a known source of Champagne Godmé Sabine real owner on site in Vernezay (Marne 51). We indulge on the Swiss cheeses this time at the La Fromagerie Suisse with tomme chévre, raclette ,and comté cheeses. Another wonderful event we love to continue the tradition of the best gastronomy and wines of the world=France ::) Pictures below with owners and my oldest son…..

There you go folks, wonderful events of the best in my belle France, As said, we go every year and love it !!! These fairs events are held throughout France every year, so check them out ,worth the detour, me think. We were comfortable with the experience in Nantes but figure Vannes is smaller and better to interact more with the producers which we love to do. Already looking forward to the next one, catch it , this is France at its best for the food, the ambiance ,the savoir faire ,and all ! There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
