I am back in my road warrior mode going this time to my backyard of my beautiful Morbihan, lovely Bretagne and in my belle France, I have come here before seeking the story of Arthur and the roundtable ,and decided to come back to the area. Do see my other posts ! Therefore, let me tell you about the Round Table of the knighst of king Arthur in Néant-sur-Yvel !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The town of Néant-sur-Yvel is part of the Paimpont forest, west of Rennes, and only 58 km from Pontivy. Also, 55 minutes by car from my house ! In 1947, the town became Néant-sur-Yvel.

We came back to see more knights !! On top of the Butte Saint-Michel or St Michael’s hill right in City center, a giant round table is installed there which will eventually receive 11 Knights of the Round Table, The first was Arthur, on a round table about 4 meters in diameter, both hands placed on the edge. His helm, surmounted by a dragon, is placed in front of him. Later came the knights Keu and Gauvain who were officially welcomed around the table with King Arthur, in ceremonial dress seated on a pedestal, his hands resting on the Round Table of the knights, Next, recently have come to sit Perceval and Girflet. Eventually the idea is to put all knights on the round table by the town. Stay tune !!!

The Round Table of Arthurian legends is located in Camelot, at the court of King Arthur. It was drawn up after Merlin the enchanter revealed to Arthur the need to create an assembly made of the most great knights in order to find the Grail. There is no unique and complete version telling the story of the knights of the round table. Although written at centuries of distance by very diverse authors of cultures, all versions are grouped under the generic term of “Arthurian legend”, because of the preponderant position occupied by the character of King Arthur. There are regularly the main protagonists: Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot du Lac, Guenièvre, etc. Added to the story of many characters: Gauvain, Mordred, La Fée Morgane, Viviane, Tristan and Iseult, etc. The combination of characters and situations allows each author to express their sensitivity on a specific subject. Indeed versions abound but this one is nice me think in quant old Néant sur Yvel !!
