Curiosities of Locmariaquer, part I !!

I am back in coastal gorgeous Locmariaquer in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne in my belle France, I come to a familiar place so close to my house only 28 minutes. Again, I found me some older pictures not yet in my blog ,and they should be, Therefore, here is my take on the curiosities of Locmariaquer ,part I !! Hope you enjoy it as I.

 The town of Locmariaquer is located at the western mouth of the Gulf of Morbihan and has many beaches overlooking the bay of Quiberon, the western part of Mor Braz which opens access to the Atlantic Ocean. The port of Locmariaquer is a vibrant spot with great views and pretty marina with plenty of stores and restos going from the inland square to the port area square or Place Dariorigum

It is a cruise harbor, fishing village, with good beaches and megaliths ancient stones all in one. The port of Locmariaquer is an old coastal fishing port dating from the beginning of the 20C. Located at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, opposite Port-Navalo on the Rhuys peninsula, the port offers a panorama of the Gulf of Morbihan and the Auray river. There are many cruises departing from this port by the Vedette angelus and Navix companies, we had enjoy more the Navix.

The brasserie hotel L’Escale at 2 Place Dariorigum facing the sea on the port, it offers traditional cuisine with fish, seafood, mussels and chips, and fish of the day Quality cuisine with good quality/price ratio. Smiling servers and good reception with children. It is heavens by the Gulf !!

The Church Notre-Dame-de-Kerdro was built between 1082 and 1120 by the monks of Quimperlé, the transept and the choir are the surviving elements. It was altered in the 17-18C with the construction of the nave, and the modification of the Romanesque parts. The bell tower was built in 1817, and the doors were built in 1835. The holy water font included in the wall near the entrance dates from the 15C. It is decorated with foliage and grapes.
