The manor and garden of the Psalette of Nantes !!

We have come quite often to Nantes, a City that needs to be visited more by all. A wonderful historical city with many monuments to see, many wonderful properties. I was again on my local road warrior mode and as bit not back, decided to give it a refresher to this must to visit City of Nantes, Loire-Atlantique dept 44 of the Pays de la Loire region,in my belle France ; even if old Bretagne! Do read my previous posts on the city as well, For now let me tell about the manor and garden of the Psalette of Nantes ! From the rue Désiré-Colombe, just go under a large porch to access the Jardin de la Psalette garden, a remarkable wooded area. It is part of the history of Nantes, Crossing by a path that joins the rue Evariste-Luminais, this 3000 m² garden now hosts a small play area dedicated to 0-3 year olds and a fun course for older ones. The orangery was restored like a vestige. This garden is a romantic and breathing space in the heart of the city.

The Psallette manor is right around the right side of the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Cathedral. It is accessed in particular from the end of the Impasse Saint-Laurent which gives access to the jardin de la Psallette garden which borders the mansion. By the end of the 15C, the mansion was originally the residence of the Archdeacon of the country of the Mée. It is acquired by the diocese of Nantes in 1837 The garden has an area of 2,387 m2, and is accessible from the Impasse Saint-Laurent,cours Saint-Pierre and the path along the cathedral from Place Saint-Pierre, A wonderful peaceful spot in old town Nantes !

 Psalette originally designated the singing school attached to the cathedral. It was founded in 1413 by Bishop Henri the Barbu, the mansion of the 16C was highly revised in the 19C in order to become a school of girls. In 1862, the school was bought by the cathedral factory, for the installation of its psalette.

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
