The town of Saint-Méen-le-Grand its term grand or great comes from the fact that Saint Méen (Meven) founded his city there. It is next to the N164 road , Châteaulin -Rennes axis ,From Vannes to Saint-Méen-le-Grand: expressway N 166 towards Ploërmel, exit Ploërmel / Mauron D 766 / D 166 or about 79 km. The Rennes TGV station is less than 40 minutes away as well as the Rennes Saint-Jacques airport.

I did not know he was born here even if knows some of his exploits on the cycling circuit. I am no expert but this discipline is very big here in my lovely Bretagne and over the years we had some super runners. Louis Bobet known as Louison Bobet, cyclist born March 12, 1925 on this town. Here is a bit more from the official webpage I translate the most best parts of his career, awesome records!!

He won his first race in Montauban-de-Bretagne when he is not yet license. His first official victory was obtained in Lamballe in 1943, under the colors of CC Rennais. His career took off three years later, once WWII ended. In France in the amateurs, he passed professional in 1947 and discovered the Tour de France. The following year, 1948 ,he revealed himself there by winning two stages and finishing 4th in the general classification. Third in 1950 two titles of champion of France, Milan San-Remo, the Tour of Lombardy and Paris-Nice fall in particular in his bag! The peak of his career is then loomed: he entered the legend by winning three Tour de France in a row, in 1953, 1954 and 1955! He also obtained the supreme title of world champion in 1954, in Germany, then won two new cycling monuments: the Tour of Flanders in 1955 and Paris-Roubaix in 1956, Louison Bobet put an end to his sports career in 1962, after several years marked by injuries. He died March 13, 1983 in Biarritz, and is buried in Saint-Méen-le-Grand cemetery,

  1. I didn’t know there was a Louison Bobet museum, but it’s well deserved; beyond the cyclist there’s the great race of the Tour de France for over a century, and despite changes in society and the means of communication, the Tour continues to fascinate a large number of enthusiasts, where other events or sports have lost all interest.
