Curiosities of Lanester !!!

I like to tell you a bit more on Lanester, as was by there again on my local road warrior trips with the boys and Rex, Memories of old always nice to have in my blog! Lanester is located in my beautiful Morbihan and lovely Bretagne, about 30 km from my house, I stop by there again today and found me again some nice monuments and some new finds, I like to tell you a bit on curiosities of Lanester !!! We passed briefly by one activity is big around here and we had enjoyed, You need a car as this is deep coastal area of my beautiful Morbihan! You have the Center Nautique de Saint Guénaël at Rue de Saint-Guenaël, Here you have the Ecole de Voile or sailing school and the Canoë-Kayak Club, by nearby Rue du Bol d’Air.

The Saint-Guénaël  Chapel, dedicated to Saint Guénaël, in Romanesque style, from the 11C, restored in the 15C and 20C, In the nave, wooden model of the three-masted war ship “Saint-Joseph”, given as an ex-voto by the fishermen of Locmiquélic who escaped a shipwreck. An angel appears on the bow. The chapel was built by the monks of Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys, on the site of a monastery founded by Guénaël in the 6C and destroyed by the Normans. It is a small rectangular chapel, built in the 11C and which was significantly altered over the following centuries. The bronze bell dates from 1911. There are two ex-votos (19C). Of the old church, only the paving of the nave, the door frames from the 13C and 15C and the chancel window remain.

The cimetière de bateaux de Kerhervy or Kerhervy boat cemetery, along the Blavet; where tuna boats from the island of Groix rest in particular. It shelters around forty carcasses of boats at the end of their life. In the 1920s, before becoming this last anchorage port, the Kerhervy cove already sheltered boats. But only during the winter. The fishermen of the island of Groix, then the leading tuna port in France, came to leave some of their sailboats there after the summer fishing season, so that they could withstand the storms. Some boats were then stationed at Kerhervy during WWII. But, none of the ships from 1945 remained here. They all went back to sea,

An open-air theater has been set up there by the city. It is a beautiful place popular with photographers, in all types of weather, the changing light reveals the remains of the wooden boats. Since 1981, the Pont du Bonhomme festival (now Quai 9, in Kerhervy) has highlighted professional theater there. Then the city’s colleges relocate their theater workshops there for another festival, this time of amateur theater, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year La Fontaine aux Chevaux, the association which organizes these ten days of shows each year, at the end of June. And at the same time, every two years, since 2009, it is dance that is exhibited in front of the wrecks with the “Dances in Kerhervy” festival.

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
