The Church of Saint Maudan in Saint Maudan !

This is part of my new road warrior trips in my lovely Bretagne , where else !!!.. I have passed by it ,but never stop until today, This time saw a bit more on the marvels of the Côtes d’Armor dept 22 ! Therefore let me tell you about the Church of Saint Maudan! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The town of Saint-Maudan is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department 22 in my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France. It is 99 km from Rennes, 52 km from Saint Brieuc, 76 km from Lorient, and 54 km from my house.

Saint-Maudan owes its name to an ancient Scottish abbot who lived in the 7C, and was once a small lordship of the Viscounty and then the Duchy of Rohan. The coat of arms of Saint-Maudan is silver with a saltire gules. The town is located at the southern end of the department, on the main axis linking Saint-Brieuc to Vannes and Lorient and is distinguished by an advance in the form of an intrusion into the neighboring department of Morbihan. In Saint-Maudan, at the the Guer lock, the canal from Nantes to Brest has the particularity of splitting with the Oust river.

The Saint-Maudan Church replaces an older sanctuary. It is in the shape of a Latin cross. The blessing of the first stone took place on June 27, 1847 and that of the church on Palm Sunday, April 16, 1848. It only concerned the choir and the transept. The award for the reconstruction work on the nave and the tower took place on June 24, 1856, stipulating the completion of the nave by July 1, 1857. The pavement dates from 1866; Finally, the stone spire ,built in 1884, and the painting of the paneling were not completed until 1885.

The Saint Maudan Parish Church houses polychrome wooden statues of Saint Anne (15C). Notre-Dame-du-Pas (17C) renowned for teaching children to walk, Saint-Laurent (17C) , Saint Gildas (17C) , and Saint-Maudan (17C). Likewise, the cemetery cross which dates from the 16C bears the coat of arms of the lords of Estuer, a family allied to the Rohan.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
