This is part of my new road warrior trips in my lovely Bretagne , where else !!!.. I have decided to take my boys and dog and for a ride ; magical !! This time saw a bit more as always there are new towns and sights to see. Therefore let me tell you about the Church Saint Samson of the former town of Saint Samson ! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The town of Saint Samson is a former town now integrated into the town of Rohan,(see post). It is in my beautiful department 56 of Morbihan in my lovely Bretagne region, and in my belle France. On June 1, 1974, the town was attached to that of Rohan under the regime of the merger-association. On July 1, 1994, the attachment of Saint-Samson to Rohan was transformed into a simple merger, The town is located 21 km from Pontivy, 76 km from Lorient, 102 km from Rennes, and 49 km from my house.
The Saint-Samson Church, neo-Gothic,done in 1904 , located at Rue des Écoles, The octagonal baptismal font dates from the 15C. The church houses several statues including a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Isidore; The church has the shape of a Latin cross. The side altars are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and Saint Joseph. As the towns were merged little else information was found on this church,

A bit of history tells us that according to a confession from 1471, Saint Samson was, within the Viscounty of Rohan, one of the 46 parishes or trèves of the lordship proper of Rohan, And a bit on Saint Samson : Samson was born in Cambria, around the year 480, of a noble and ancient race , He spent the greater part of his existence in Great Britain. He then passed to Ireland, where he took part in the religious restoration of this country, and where he remained for a long time, performing many miracles and converting many souls. He landed with a group in Armorica, (Brittany) around 548, at the place which separates the Couësnon from the Rance, at the mouth of the small Guioul river. Going down to the shore, As soon as he had set foot in Armorica, Samson loudly proclaimed the mission he had received from heaven. King Childebert having expressed the desire to see Samson again, the latter went to court and, showered with honors and privileges, stayed for a long time in his monastery on the Seine. He was still there in 557, because we find his signature at the bottom of the Canons of the Third Council of Paris. He then returned to Dol, and feeling the hour of his death approaching, prepared himself for it with fervent prayers. he expired in peace, around 565, aged 85. The body of Saint Samson was taken, in 878, to the Monastery of Saint-Symphorien of Orléans which took his name, and had been given by Hugh the Great to Agan, bishop of Dol. He largely remained in this abbey, but several of his bones, after being transferred to Paris in the 10C and to Rouen in the 12C, returned to Dol. (Dol en Bretagne ,Ille-et-Vilaine dept 35 of Bretagne,),
