This is Landudec !!

I like to update this post for you and me, a bit recent but special for my road warrior trips in the Finistére deot 29 of my lovely Bretagne of my belle France! And on the road, we passed by several towns perhaps too small to stop or in a rush only to come back later if we feels warranted. I like to give this post a new light with some of the nice architecture . Therefore, here is my take on this is Landudec !! Hope you enjoy the post as I. You might be there first or might give me the impetus to go and see them more up close and personal. This is the story on one town and its church. I hope you will enjoy this brief introduction to the town of Landudec.  The village is at the crossroads of two fairly important roads: the D 784 from Quimper to Audierne and La Pointe du Raz on the one hand, the D 143 from Douarnenez to Pouldreuzic and Plovan on the other hand, which justifies Its slogan “Landudec, City Crossroads”. It is located 20 km from Quimper, 89 km from Brest, 142 km from Vannes, and 116 km from my current home, The Church of Sainte-Anne-et-Saint-Tudec, at Landudec of neo-Gothic style, rebuilt in 1904, contains only a limited number of vestiges of the old building (porch and bell tower) as well as some interior ornaments, including an Altarpiece of the Rosary of 1701, an Altarpiece of Sainte-Anne, a Pietà, a polychrome statue of Saint Tudec and a high Altar adorned with a remarkable last supper. The church was completely restored from 2002 to 2004.   The former church is dated 1528 and 1540, it included pillars of the 13C, characteristics of the Pont-Croix school. Only the western gable of this first church was preserved during its reconstruction, in 1904. In neo-Gothic style, it includes a nave of six spans with aisles and chapels in wings on the right of the sixth and a shallow choir with flat bedside. The porch are simply molded, without decoration of acanthus leaves; Two emaciated characters serve as ends for this curve and hold the banners: the woman, on the left, saves her modesty by the banner, the man, on the right, has only her hands. The entrance to the porch is neo-flamboyant with a statue of Saint Anne, patron saint of the parish. The bell tower, after being reached by lightning, was redone with the same stones. We go up there by the turret. landudec-eg-ste-anne-jun17 A bit of history tell us that Landudec takes its name from Saint Tudec or Tadec which was a monk of Landévennec in the 6C and was massacred at the altar of Daoulas by a Count of Faou diehard pagan, who was furious with the rapid extension that was taken by Christianity in the country .The French revolution had the Château du Guilguiffin spared but almost entirely emptied of its goods. The local clergy was also torn at that time of all possessions, The Village of Landudec on the church : https://www.landudec.bzh/patrimoine-communal/leglise/ The local pays Bigouden tourist office on the church : https://www.destination-paysbigouden.com/a-voir-a-faire/visites-patrimoine/eglise-saint-tudec-1486542 There you go folks , a huge inventory ready to be seen again up close and personal. For now just a showcase of the wonders we have in quant nice Landudec. Again, hope you enjoy this post on this is Landudec !! as I. And remember, happy travels , good health, and many cheers to all !!!
