The Church Sainte Thérèse de Gouédic of Saint Brieuc !!

In one of my forays into my north, we came to Saint Brieuc. This is a historical town with great architecture, worth the detour, me think, It is located in departément 22 or  Côtes d’Armor of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France . I like to do this post taken from other posts to give credit to this church that I feel deservingly. Therefore, here is my take on the Church Sainte Thérèse de Gouédic of Saint Brieuc !!  Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Church Sainte Thérèse de Gouédic is located Place Sainte-Thérèse. This is a church built from 1929 to 1932. the frescoes are by the local painter André Coupé. It is a modern church comprising a single nave with narrow passages on the sides and a large gallery at the bottom of the nave. The bells were placed in 1935. Its massive exterior appearance contrasts with its light interior proportions and luminosity. The first stone of the church was blessed on May 19, 1929. The whole church was blessed on December 11, 1932 and consecrated in 1955.

The Church Sainte Thérése stands on a plot bordered to the north by Rue Dr. Eugene Rahuel. The rows of houses surrounding it which form Place Sainte-Thérèse date from the same period as the church’s construction. The nave’s side aisles are a simple passageway running through the six buttresses of the incipient transepts. The result is a vast nave measuring 43 by 20 meters, defined by six large pointed arches reaching a height of 17 meters at the crown, while the choir stands 12 meters high. The church was built using granite from the Gouëdic Valley. The interior remains intact, featuring its original décor and Art Deco Stations of the Cross. The style is extremely minimalist. The stained-glass windows depict no religious scenes, but rather geometric shapes that are echoed throughout the building. Sadly, could not find web to describe more than brochures from the church,yet it is in a nice neighborhood with nice big homes.

Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
