Once again came back to one of my favorite spots in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France, I have several posts on Quiberon of course, this is one of my latest rounds to it this week, The Quiberon is actually in a presqu’Île (peninsula) jetting out from mainland France into the Atlantic ocean , This is a sublime spot visited by all locals and especially Europeans at Summer’s season, A must to visit while in the area or even coming to it alone, Therefore, let me tell you about curiosities of Quiberon, part V !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I
The Church of Notre Dame de Locmaria was built in the 15C when the parish seat was transferred from the prieural Chapel of St Clement to the town, entirely redone in 1654, it will be wearing a Lantern Tower only in the 19C. Ransacked by the English of Admiral Lestock’s army in 1746, it would even serve as a hospital for the Chouans and the emigrants in 1795 (fight against the French revolution). But it was in 1900 that a storm damaged the Bell Tower destroying much of the roof. The Church in its present form dates from 1906. This is the first monument you see walking from the train station to the beach areas,

From the square or Place Hoche, you can see clearly straight ahead the wonderful Grande Plage (see posts), always calling you for the water! There are wonderful restaurants/bars all around it and you get the breeze of the ocean nearby,

The Place de la Duchesse Anne is just after the mairie or City hall going down to the beach area, It is, full of shops and some restaurants and very animated always,

The port de Pêche or fishing port is pretty and plenty of action on Saturday mornings, Today, it welcomes over 100 fishing boats, longliners, gillnetters, crabbers, trawlers, and dredgers which come daily to unload their fish and shellfish at the fish market for 38 authorized buyers. A new, more energy-efficient and functional fish market will be built on the site of the Port-Maria fish market, constructed in the 1990s. The work, in three phases, is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
