Well this is one of those towns that we go thru almost every week at least and little written on it or pictures taken. It is so natural been about 12 km ( about 7 mi) from home. As usual lately digging into my cd rom vaults found me pictures that should be in my blog for you and me, These brings me wonderful memories forever and glad to found the pictures, Therefore, let me tell you my take on curiosities of Baud !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The Château de la Villeneuve origins date back to 1427 with the Guido family. No remains from this period survive. The château was rebuilt in the 18C, perhaps under the La Coudrais family, then dismantled in 1930 to be rebuilt set back from the road by the Le Crom family. A building with a symmetrical facade and a raised ground floor was accessible by a central straight exterior staircase. Two projecting side pavilions flanked this central section. The well located south of the current château dates from 1723. Another, at the rear, is more recent. A Christianized stele stands at the front. In 1907, and for only a few years, this château housed a beekeeping school that produced melcao, a product made from honey and cocoa. The magnificent property that can be seen today dates only from 1930.

The Château de la Villeneuve has a double-depth plan and two symmetrical five-bay elevations, the two lateral bays project forward and are covered by a hipped roof; the projection is at ground level on the terrace. On each façade, straight exterior staircases provide access to the raised ground floor. An internal spiral staircase with landings, located in the eastern part of the building, serves the first floor and the attic. The pleasure garden is complemented by a vegetable garden, laid out along the château’s axis and extending into an orchard. A retaining wall with a staircase and a well mark the boundary between the two. A farm belonging to the château is located to the east.

For nostalgic memories forever have a picture of a bus stop here where one my twin sons stop on his way home from work , This was in the old no 5 bus now it is name 605, The gare routière or bus station at 1439 Place du Champ de Foire Nord. It gets connection from the public transports network in Brittany ,call BreizhGo. The official BreizhGo : https://www.breizhgo.bzh/

Another nostalgic memorable spot for us here was at Santé Nature , part of the La Vie Claire chaine at 4 Rue d’ Auray. Sadly it has closed, We remember coming here for cures for my dear late wife Martine and so friendly helpful humanistic help from the store manager Rémy, They even came to pick her up to the store ! It had a generous 210m² of floor space, the store offered a wide range of organic products (food, dietary supplements, cosmetics, loose-leaf tea and coffee, fresh produce, fruits, and vegetables), as well as essential oils and crystal elixirs. Memories forever indeed we now look at it where there is a convenience grocery store now,

And just finish this memorable post something we went to see out of curiosity always, Stop by the ruin former gare de Baud train station , once beautiful; the building had character. Located on the SNCF line from Auray to Pontivy, 5 km from the City center, in the limits of the neighboring town of Languidic (see posts), It was opened in 1864 by the Paris-Orléans Railway Company. Passenger service ceased in 1949. Freight trains still run on the line. The Baud train station consisted of a central two-story building flanked by two small single-story wings. It is now in bad shape indeed
