This is Binic-Etables sur Mer !!!

And here I go again getting some good ones out of cd vault and sharing it with the world in my blog, This is another wonders found of my area. We decided to go out and have a ride into the north and found out on Binic-Etables sur Mer in the Côtes d’Armor dept 22 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France. Always looking for more; notice had an upper coastal area that we have not been yet. Therefore, we took the ride over the coastal areas and this post on this is Binic-Etables sur Mer !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The old town of Binic is within the new town of Binic-Etable-sur-Mer. It is on the western part of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. It is 13 km from Saint Brieuc, 125 km from Mont Saint Michel, 117 km from Roscoff, and 115 km from my current home, We go up on the D768, then D700 by Loudéac, to connect with the N12, then D786 to town.

The port today welcomes more than 600 units on pontoon and anchoring in the pool and the outbuilding. Along 1,300 meters of quays, it consists of a long-off, 4 hectares, and a afloat, 3.35 hectares. Faced with the authentic granite houses, the port fully participates in life and the animation that characterize the station. The one who saw so many sailors off Newfoundland today welcomes boaters of all sizes.

Other things to see here with more time are the Church Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Voyage. Its construction was decided in place of the old Saint-Julien chapel after the establishment of Binic as an independent town of Étables-sur-Mer in 1821. The Saint-Gilles Chapel in the ville-jacob district, where a procession takes place every first Sunday in September. And the Sainte-Anne private chapel located on rue de la Griselle. Situated a stone’s throw from the quays of Binic, 3 rue de l’Ic is the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions to discovers rural and maritime life in the 19C, its mode of life and its traditions.

Its a coastal town ,therefore, there are 6 beaches overlooking the English Channel, plage de l’avant-port beach is framed by stones: rocks at each end and the dike overlooking it. Above the beach, the customs trail offers a point of view on the sea , Plage La Banche is the largest beach in Binic. There is a swimming pool, a seawater pool and a beach club to liven up the younger days. The plage du corps de garde or of the guardhouse beach is located in a wilder decor and is much less frequented than the previous two , plage du Moulin or windmill beach is ideal for swimming, games on the beach and fishing on foot The Plage des Godelins beach nestled below the seaside district, the beach surprises with its extent, its bathing cabins and its rotunda which give it an undeniable charm . The Plage du Vau Chaperon, located in the extension of the Godelins beach, between the Pointe de Tonquett and the Pointe de la Rognouse, the beach is separated from the beach of the guard by the Jean Denis rock ,surmounted by a cross in granite. This beach is served by the GR 34 coastal path, it is only accessible on foot.

A bit of history I like tell us that in the Middle Ages, Binic (then called Benic) was a small village of at most twenty houses. But it was however a large place of fairs and markets in which the inhabitants of the surrounding villages came. In 1821, thanks to François Le Saulnier de Saint-Jouan, a local shipowner, with the support of the Duchess of Angoulême, daughter of Louis XVI, Binic became a full-fledged town by detaching itself from the parish of Etables sur Mer. In the 19C, it had its peak by becoming, in 1845, the first French port for large fishing. The port received 150 to 160 ships annually and the activity was divided between Newfoundland fishing and cabotage, when it was then the first cod fishing port. More recently, scalloped shell, specialty of Saint-Brieuc bay, developed. Since 1992, the local Binicais trawlers have landed their fishing at the new port of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, a neighboring city at 6 km away.
