As said the choices are endless and the thrill of visiting them is always there. Take a look to my corner of the world and you too will know why I am so enthusiastic about my beautiful Morbihan and my lovely region of Bretagne. Let me tell you a bit more on curiosities of Plouay !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The name of the town of Plouay comes from the Breton “Plou” (Parish) and “Zoe” (Saint Ouen for St. Plouay) It was erected as a town in 1790 and passed to the district of Lorient in 1800. Plouay is limited by the Scorff river, which separates it from Berné, Guilligomarch and Arzano; It borders Cléguer and Calan, Lanvaudan and Inguiniel. It is a very famous town here for the its bike and car rallies of Brittany!! I know because was involved in the rallye of Bretagne and cars were passing me by and wondered! I was in the middle of the course!!! It is ,also, home of the great cycling course the Bretagne Classic. Nice memories of Plouay!

The Bécherel oratory was built in 1950 and was installed a statue of Notre-Dame-de-Pitié, a Pietà that rested in the cemetery reliquary since its discovery in the Moulin pond, near. It was place in the grotto of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, by the route de Lorient, This place of meditation, as well as the neighboring lavoir or washhouse, benefited from a total rehabilitation a few years ago.

The district of Bécherel was formerly a real hamlet, separated from the town by the stream of Bécherel, with its houses built along the vicinal path, its pond and its mill, dependent on the near lordship of Kerdrého. It had a chapel, called N.-D. de Bécherel, attested by the archives in the 17C. Ruined, it was destroyed in 1804, but renew in the form of an oratory built around 1950 by the population of the district in thanks for having been protected from bombing during WWII. There sits a 16C granite pietà found in the Moulin pond and probably from the old chapel.

The lavoir de Kerspern or wash house, covered and made up of a large rectangular basin, it is one of the last laundries of the town to have worked. until the 1980s, women met there, boiling their laundry in the washhouse before soaping, rubbing it and rinsing it.
