The village of Les Mesnuls is located in the Yvelines department no, 78 in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. The Château des Mesnuls is a Louis XIII style château built of stone and brick. It features long, straight brick façades, laid in a herringbone or horizontal pattern, with stone window frames. The rather low ground floor is surmounted by a main floor and a second floor, topped by a high slate roof. On its eastern side, the main courtyard is flanked by a second courtyard, surrounded by outbuildings.
The Château des Mesnuls castle is an important residence and park, The castle has long rectilinear brick facades, arranged in herringbone or horizontally, the window frames being in stone. The ground floor, quite low, is surmounted by a noble floor and a second floor, topped with a high slate roof. The castle includes elements from other buildings: the wrought iron gate comes from the Saint-Hubert castle in Perray-en-Yvelines, demolished in 1785; the large interior staircase comes from the old (disappeared) castle of Courcelles-la-Forêt in Sarthe; Part of the 12C cloister of Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines, erected in the 1920s in the grounds of the Château des Mesnuls, was finally reassembled, some sixty years later, in its original location at the Abbey of Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines.
The Château des Mesnuls developed according to the whims, fortune or misfortune of its successive owners. In 1230, the construction of a first manor began, of which nothing remains, under the aegis of Ernaut des Mesnuls. The years 1535-1540 saw the construction of a two-story building, with a low wing and a postern gate with two turrets (current main entrance to the castle) and the digging of the moats. From 1580, the left part of the central main building was built. In 1606, the estate further increased through land purchases. On June 4, 1620, the young Louis XIII came to dine at Les Mesnuls , In May and June 1791, closing the courtyard of the castle with the old gate of the castle of Saint-Hubert, in Perray-en-Yvelines, dismantled at that time. During WWII, the castle was occupied by the staff of Admiral Karl Dönitz, then, at the Liberation, by the Americans. In 1987 the Thomson group (my job 2003) bought the castle with its park and renovated it to make it a reception center available to the group, but also to other companies. Sold to the company Châteauform’, the castle has, since 2008, been dedicated to hosting business seminars with 13 fully-equipped meeting rooms for 2 to 120 participants ,adapted to the needs. This is how I came to see it many years ago but the pictures are newer passing by again,
