This was again on my road warrior trails of the Touraine and took a bit of my road warrior mode sidestep into La Riche town next to Tours. Again, searching my cd rom vaults found me these pictures that should be in my blog for you and me. For info, the town of La Riche is in the Indre-et-Loire dept 37 of Centre-Val-de-Loire region of my belle France, It is part of the Tours urban area and the greater Tours metropolitan area. The Church Sainte Anne is located at 98 Rue de la Mairie ,next to the City Hall, Its a church of 31.50 meters long, and its vaults are more than 10 meters above the tiled floor. It was built in a neo-Gothic style, In 1850, La Riche still had no church. Every Sunday, practicing Catholics attended Mass at the Church of Notre-Dame-La-Riche. (see post), It wasn’t until 1856 that the Church of Sainte-Anne was consecrated. La Riche then became a parish in its own right, separate from Tours, something it had never been before. Inside a statue of Saint Francis of Paola as well as two painted scenes depicting the life of the hermit. There is not much written on the church even thus passing by it was the one we saw,

Other things to see here are the Priory of Saint-Cosme, founded in 1092 and built primarily in the 11-12C, then again in the 15C, It is no coincidence that Ronsard came to spend his final days at the priory of Saint-Cosme. The Renaissance poet found there more than just a home: a place steeped in meaning and history, conducive to contemplation and aesthetic exploration. He is buried in the remains of the old church. The Château de Plessis-lès-Tours, dating from the Middle Ages, of which only a rectangular main building remains, flanked to the west by a stair tower, are also notable landmarks. Several French kings resided there most notably Louis XI, who made it his principal residence , and it was the site of numerous historical events. The Convent of the Grand Minims of Plessis-lès-Tours, a site linked to Saint Francis of Paola, features a neo-Gothic chapel and 17C convent remains.

A bit of history I like tell us that the town takes its name from the Church Notre-Dame-la-Riche (see post) in Tours, a former suburb separated from its core by the construction of the modern fortifications in the mid-17C; the town thus derives its name from a religious building that is not located within its boundaries. During the French revolution, the town then named Notre-Dame-la-Riche, was temporarily known as La Riche-Extra and La Varenne-de-la-Riche, and adopted the name La Riche after this period. The town was occupied for three months by the Prussians in 1870. Towards the end of WWII, the town was also bombed nine times between June and August 1944, notably on June 8, 1944.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
