I take you again to my memorable Seine et Marne and one pretty quant village of Rampillon. This was in my road warrior trails in the region of my dear late wife Martine , and need to be back for the memories of always, eventually. Therefore, here is my take on this is Rampillon !!! The village of Rampillon is located in the Seine-et-Marne department no 77 in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. It is located 4 km from Nangis. 35 km from Melun, 20 km from Provins, 62 km from Meaux, 93 km from Versailles, and 519 km from my current home, The main road here is the D619 that goest into Nangis further into Melun and on other direction to Provins, I came here on my road warrior trails of the Seine et Marne from Meaux (my late wife native town) out on the A140 highway to connect with the A4 autoroute de l’est dir Paris to exit /sortie 15 dir Melun/Provins to get onto the D1036 road or Route de Melun crossing the forest of Fontainebleau bear left on the Obelisk onto the D231 road or Route de Lagny and continue past rondpoint of Jouy-le-Châtel and continue on the D231 passing over the N4 highway next rondpoint bear rigth onto the D209 road then at Saint Just en Brie bear right onto Rue de Brandon then right onto the D49 road at La Croix en Brie and out onto the D76 road making a quick left stay on same road which also name Rue de Champagne then bear right onto Rue des Templiers bear slightly right onto Rue de la Commanderie with the church on your right hand side,

The Church of Saint-Éliphe is situated on a hill overlooking the Brie plain. Traditionally, depictions of the Last Judgment show the Elect on one side and the Damned on the other. The unusual feature here is that there are no damned. Saint Eliphe is on the trumeau of the portal of the church ,represented as a young man with a neatly trimmed beard, wearing a deacon’s robe. This sculpted portal depicts an edifying scene. This life is evangelized by the apostles above: they give it meaning, linking the life of toil on Earth with the life beyond, represented on the lintel by a Resurrection of the dead. This link is fulfilled in the ultimate encounter with Christ in glory, presented at the center of the tympanum, surrounded by Mary and Saint John.

The Church of Saint-Éliphe is Romanesque and Gothic in style. It was built in the first half of the 13C. It was part of the Rampillon commandery, which belonged to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. A round tower, known as the “Templar Tower,” can be seen at one corner of the church. The commandery was burned down by the English during the Hundred Years’ War (1432). Saint Eliphe lived in the 4C and was beheaded. He is nicknamed “Saint Denis of Lorraine.” It is not known how his cult spread in the Brie region

A bit of history tell us that mentioned in the 12C, the town was the site of a Rampillon commandery of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, established on the border between the County of Champagne and the royal domain. A lordship of the Bishop of Sens, then of the Hospitallers, the parish was under the patronage of Saint Eliphe, a Lorraine saint. Legend has it that he was beheaded and placed his head on a hilltop.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
