The foodie in Quiberon !!!

Once again to one of my favorite spots in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France, I have several posts on Quiberon of course, this is a condense post with pictures all over on one of my favorite spots in the City, The City of Quiberon is actually a presqu’Île (peninsula) jetting out from mainland  France into the Atlantic ocean , This is a sublime spot to enjoy the good of France in beautiful setting, a must to visit, me think, Therefore, let me tell you about the foodie in Quiberon !!!  Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Let me start right off the bat with one we used to go, La Cabana, (sadly closed 2020) for us right at Place Hoche (see post), at the entrance to the Grande plage (see posts). We have come with and without reservation for lunch while en route here! The old favorite La Cabana.! here for the memories of always. The service and food as always was good with good prices. For starter we had the Fahrenheit pizza and copieuse galette /boucher beef galette all wash down with a new twist of modernity for us a Touraine Sauvignon Blanc wine 2017 very chill and very nice at 18€ the bottle. We finish with desserts from banana splits to choco and coconut crêpes and express coffee ; all for 26€ per person. ok Now just memories In its place open Voglia, an Italian style resto, The place has a terrace on the Hoche square very nice, However, sadly our biggest disappointment yet , the service was uttely slow !! We waited 30 minutes without even ask for the meal ! By the time the waiter came, we needed to get back as no time to eat, We left without trying it and I don’t believe will ever go back there, They were unimpressed with us leaving as don’t care, As the competition here is strong, my feeling are if they do this on a regular basis they won’t last.

Another favorite Le Fisher’s Club right on the sand , Normally the beach season starts on July 14 National Day but weather can be good from now on,here is a resto bistro right on the sand call Le Fisher’s Club, we had our beers, and tapas of red peppers with goat cheese, calamar in its sauce, ham and cheese rolls, codfish fritters, with a great look at the beach, grandiose!!!  Very nice cool place , to relax by the sea, sublime, and even kids space to boot. classic on the Grande Plage of Quiberon.  The official Le Fisher’s Club see Quiberon : https://www.lefisher.fr/le-bar/

Another favorite the Quai des Glaces for ice cream was closed as well as still not full Summer season and this is a beach town par excellence. For dessert, we went over across to the Quai des Glaces or Ice wharf  parlor to have our 3  ,4 and even 5 scoops of ice creams like marc de bourgogne, pruneaux d’armagnac, strawberries for me with churros or chichis as call here. At the place du Hoche just going down to the beach at Grande Plage. Wonderful friendly service always , great ices and good prices.

I give some other places to eat we had tried, all around the beach, You will have your first glass of wine or beer at the Le Kafé Hoche resto in city center 15 Place Hoche.  The Kafé Hoche was a combination with the restaurant Les Trois Mâts and the Café Hoche,as tried, now all call Kafe Hoche, Here for the memories of always,

On the beach, the Restaurant Le Colibri  is a great spot, people watching par excellence and the prices right and food good, can’t ask for more lol! at 1 boulevard Chanard, and even you can have your breakfast here ! right at the tip of the beach entrance. Official Resto lounge Le Colibri : https://le-colibri-lounge.menu-world.com/

La Trinitaine, 13 Rue de Verdun, has my favorite breton biscuits and cookies in the area, madeleines, fish canning etc. The official La Trinitaine Quiberon : https://www.latrinitaine.com/nos-boutiques-en-france/la-trinitaine-quiberon.html/

Chocolatier et Caramelier le  Roux, 18 Rue de Port Maria. Absolotely mouthful of flavor and quality in chocolates and caramel, the Breton way. A must in town. It has outlets in Paris too, Official Maison Le Roux : https://chocolatleroux.com/boutique/

Boulangerie patissérie Riguidel, 38 Rue de Port Maria , this is an institution here, and the especialty is the breton cakes especially the kouign amann done by fisherman that came from pays bigouden when Quiberon was one of the first port of sardines in France. Official Maison Riguidel : https://maison-riguidel.bzh/

Another stop to see if something can be brough home is the fish market in front of the church in city center Quiberon before heading to the beach, this is the Les Viviers Quiberonnais, 3 rue de l’Eglise , great fishes and seafood as fresh as you can get them out of the water.

The fishing marina harbor as well as the pleasure marina are very nice areas loaded with quant seafood and breton food restaurants facing the sea. A wonderful feeling indeed. For a boy who grew up in a shrimp fisherman harbor and been around the world ,this is nostalgia at its  best and it feels nice.  Coming along the côte sauvage,(see post) the best road in for us the first thing you see is the Château Turpault,(see post) in private hands and not visited, but the sight coming in to Quiberon is magical indeed.

There was a nice night time entertainement that is to please young and old alike right in Port Maria area , quant, nice, and safe.  Le Suroît was at 29 rue de Port Maria. Unfortunately, now closed after over 50 yrs there and many international stars have supposely gone there. Here for the memories of always,

You have the wonderful, but first the best macaroons as Thierry Hafnaoui,33 Route de Verdun, Voted one of the best macaroons in France, just wonderful. Official Thierry Hafnaoui : https://www.thierryhafnaoui.com/nos-boutiques/boutique/3

For fish, seafood canning goods, a tradition in the area, head for the Belle Iloise 10, Rue de Kervozès, near the fishing coop. Official Belle Illoise Quiberon : https://www.labelleiloise.fr/fr/magasin/5007-quiberon-port-maria

There is plenty to eat, we were at l’Embarcadére resto at 1 rue de Kervozes last with mackerel fish and rice, complet galette noir ,chevre or goat cheese salad, moules curry, with leffe beers galore for 15€ per person. It has change owners into Restaurant Le Ferry ,not try yet, Here for the memories of always,

We stop in one of our favorites there Quai Ouest (funny its translates into Key West as in Florida USA); and sadly it has closed with a new name of Quai9 Quiberon 1 Quai de Belle Île not tried yet, In Quai Ouest the service and the speed were tops, even under the rain we ate in the covered terrace with heating.  It is at 51 Rue de Port Maria, and Quai de Belle Île.  Here we had our mackarel in mustard sauce fish, with a fish soup sublime, some of us had mussels in curry sauce, salads ,burgers, heineken beers, and we left with 17€ per person that is very good. Here for the memories of always,
