Curiosities of Brandivy !!!

This is a close town to mine and do past by it once in a while in my road warrior mode and found pictures in other posts that would be more fitting in a post of their own now, The town of Brandivy is in my beautiful Morbihan of my lovely Bretagne, and in my belle France, It is great pleasure to tell you about this little known places that offer a nice half day tour of wonderful historical monuments and beautiful architecture. The town is less than 7 km from my house,  Therefore, here is my take on curiosities of  Brandivy !!!  Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Brandivy is a town dominating the valley of the Loc’h. A beautiful nature area which is great for walks and nice historical monuments, It was a tranquil day and they have mountain goats roaming freely which my dog Rex really enjoy trying to chase them lol !!

Just to mention, there is a nice calvary of Christ by the main church (see post). The Calvary of the church is a granite cross from the old cemetery. It stands, crowned with a glory, atop a truncated shaft on a multi-tiered base upon which stand statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint John. The effigy of the latter was replaced in 1987 after the theft of the previous statue. The base is undoubtedly older (18C), and the cross was erected on July 2, 1837, by Rector Carado.

You go down a very steep ravine on the side of the river Loc’h to visit the Chapel of Saint Laurent, built early in the 16C; a bit further and you come to the cave of Notre Dame de Lourdes Chapel, (see pic) recently done in 1998! the newest of chapel in all the region. In 1912, a tall cross was put in indented part of the rocks, sort like a cave, and from them a great piligrimage is happening as the rocks looks similar to those at Lourdes. It has a huge wooden crucifixtion cross.
