I am again on beautiful inland lands of my lovely Bretagne , I have been by here but this time did my road warrior version to seek the countryside and see jewels like this chapel , taken gladly from my cd rom vault and they should be in my blog for you and me, Let me tell you on this is Tonquédec !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The village of Tonquédec is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department no 22, in my lovely region of Bretagne and in my belle France. It has 1,201 inhabitants as of 2022, It is located 10 km from Lannion, 46 km from Morlaix, 64 km from Saint Brieuc, and 130 km from my current town, I went there up the D768 road dir Pontivy just passing the City take the D764 for a few km that connects with the D767 road dir Guerlédan continue on the D767 passed Corlay/Haut Corlay continue on the D767 dir Guingamp before reaching the City get on the N12 short km to get back on the D767 road ,and get off at Cavan passed farm roads by Kergroham to connect with the D31 road that takes you to Tonquédec, and continue on my road warrior trails to Lannion.
The Chapelle Notre Dame du Loc is located 4 km north of the village of Tonquédec in the hamlet called Le Loc., and dates from 1755, is worth a visit. The chapel was built on the orders of Canon Blot, provost-rector of Tonquédec before the French revolution. The new church was built on the remains of an older chapel dedicated to the worship of the Virgin Mary. It has long been a popular place of pilgrimage. A gwerz (a secular song in Breton recounting significant events or figures) evokes a series of miracles that occurred at the chapel.

You will notice the three monumental calvaries attached to this chapel, one located nearby and the other two at the two crossroads of the roads leading to it. A nice road warrior trails of yours truly,Its high altar dates back to the 18C; it is flanked to the north and south by two altarpieces. The chapel also contains a small pulpit, several ancient statues, and three paintings, one of which dates from 1823.

Other things to see here with more time are the Saint-Gildas Chapel and its bas-reliefs, The Château de Tonquédec built in the 13C, The Collegiate Church of Saint-Pierre ,it was erected as a collegiate church on August 17, 1447. Becoming a parish church during the French revolution in 1790, rebuilt in 1835, only a tower dating from 1773, the 15C doors, a 13C baptismal font and the chevet with its 15C stained glass windows have been preserved with the main window represents knights of the house of Tonquédec in the 13C.
A bit of history I like tell us the village of Tonquédec is closely linked to that of the Coëtmen family and the Château de Tonquédec. Most of the historical events that took place in this village relate to the castle, the construction of which by the Coëtmen-Penthièvres dates back to the 12C. The name Tonquédec already has its current form in an account from around 1330, where the church of this place is mentioned among the benefices of the diocese of Tréguier. Between January 24 and June 8, 1394, Duke John IV seized the castle of Tonquédec and had it razed, after the victory of Oliver de Clisson, to whom Roland III de Coëtmen, Viscount of Tonquédec, was allied. On December 16, 1636, Amaury III de Gouyon, Marquis de la Moussaye, sold the viscountcy of Tonquédec to René du Quengo, Count of Rochay.
