Port Haliguen ,part III !!!

In this time of the year the place is becoming crowded with visitors ,and locals alike and the weather is great of course.  What I am talking about Quiberon, the peninsula south of me, my backyard. And more specificallyPort Haliguen; which needs more posts me think. Again, found me more pictures in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me, Therefore, this is my take again on Port Haliguen, part III !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

For reference, this is in my beautiful Morbihan ,in my lovely Bretagne and in my belle FrancePort Haliguen is only 41 km (about 25 miles) from my house, There is a nice lighthouse done in 1856 and the marina was done from 1968; it has been renovated Port Haliguen was completely redone ; it can accommodate 1,300 boats with the current four docks: the old port, docks PH1 and PH2, and a dock for transiting boats. The lighthouses are always a pretty sight, and the bigger one  phare de Port Haliguen can be seen for 10 miles with a height of 12 meters and since 1972 no longer in operation. It remain a nice tourist attraction today.

The pecheur or fisherman sitting on a lobster trap, next to the lighthouse of Port-Haliguen, The fisherman welcomes visitors and sailors who come to moor on the pontoons. It’s hard to resist the charm of old Port Haliguen with its 1856 lighthouse and its stone quays where Captain Dreyfus disembarked after returning from prison. At the entrance to the port, you see the Fisherman , donated by Berlin artist Karsten Klingbeil in 1997.

Since 1998, the Pecheur or Fisherman, a donated work by German sculptor Karsten Klingbeil, has watched over the Port Haliguen and Quiberon Bay in Morbihan like sentinels. Industrialist and business leader Karsten Klingbeil loved to come and recharge his batteries in Quiberon, where he lived overlooking Quiberon Bay. Born in 1925, he was a student in several sculptors’ studios between 1940 and 1943. A soldier, he was a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union until 1948. In 1950, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin.
