As said, we come by here always, we eat here , enjoy it here ,ride boats here, and do shopping galore on many items yet I need to tell you more, I did a mix up of older posts to create this one and keep the pictures for the memories of always, I will tell you a bit more on favorites spots in Vannes, in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56, in my lovely Bretagne, and in my belle France. Therefore, here again the curiosities of Vannes , part XXVI !!! Hope you enjoy it as I
The City of Vannes , you have to see the le Port or harbor area with a canal of over 300 boats going all the way to the Gulf of Morbihan that takes you to the Atlantic ocean ! The place to be in the City, tops, To boot they have installed a grande roue or big wheel for the end of year holidays which reminds me of the one at the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris ! And of course, the usual carrousel for the kids near the tourist office and contemporary arts center, A very nice area to walk all over !

Right almost across from the carrousel you see the former convent of the Order of the Discalced Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel now the Conservatoire à rayonnement départemental de Vannes at 16 Place Théodore Decker Here you can learn music, theater, coral, plastic arts etc

Coming over to the walls fortification of older days, you can see the former home of the dukes of Brittany (a duchy once) now been remodeled to house the fine arts museum of the City, This is the Château de l’Hermine castle.

We went around the rue Francis Decker to see part of the official govt building of the Morbihan, the préfecture with a view afar of the Church Saint Patern belltower.

And dwell lovingly into old Vannes at the Rue Saint Nicolas , a very old street outside the intramural city , regularized in the 18C as a portion of the road axis, crosses the city of Nantes in Quimper. Its name comes from the Saint-Nicolas hospital which bordered it. Existence of a stone bridge visible in the sewers and which the road today covers. The houses on the north side of the street date back to the 17C. The former Saint-Nicolas Hospital borders the street on an old plane flanked by shops on the ground floor.

And the Rue de la Fontaine, old street located side of the urban enclosure. It was the former departure of the Pontivy road, it still keeps today west slope at the start of the street part of its old houses built in a wooden pan. The piercing of the boulevard de la Paix in the years 1950-1960 modified by seaving it the ancient continuity of the street to avenue Saint-Symphorien. With rue Saint-Patern, rue de la Fontaine , and Faubourg Saint-Patern. Rue de la Fontaine, formerly rue des Pompes, then rue de Pontivy, The inventory of the street made it possible to spot 30 houses: stone and wood houses. The street consists of houses opening directly onto the track. Some old passages or alleys have been spotted. See the Church Saint Patern, the oldest in town.

And the above was yesterday while doing our groceries at hypermarket E Leclerc, and getting some last minute shoes for my boys at Besson in Vannes.
